Some time ago I sold an enclosure to an active member of this site, i might add that the sale was in the presence of some of the most respected members of this site.
For several reasons (be they true or not) the buyer requested paying for the enclosure in several payments. Regrettably (and probably stupidly), I agreed to deliver the enclosure for only a 25% deposit, with the rest to be deposited into my bank account over the next couple of weeks. I ended up receiving only 75% of the sale price. The buyer now says that she paid the full amount, although i have bank records to prove otherwise.

While the chances of me receiving the rest of the money are very slim, i thought i would share it with you all to make you think twice about ever selling anything without full payment up front. No matter how sincere buyers may seem, it is not worth the risk.

I remember that i think?? ;)

You try to do something good by someone but just get bitten in the bum for your efforts. Not nice, not nice at all.

Hope the member comes good and fixes you up mate, would be the only good thing to do!!!!

Live and learn, i would name the person unless they agree to pay the rest.
I can't see whats wrong with naming someone if they do this kinda thing, you don't have to name them on a forum, go into chat and tell a few people, it will spread quickly then.

How can they claim to have paid if your bank records show otherwise? Do they have receipts for their payments?

Don't be so nice next time, i would never sell anything unless i have full payment in my hand at the time of sale, you may loose the odd sale but at least you always get your money.

Yeh, that person should feel ashamed of themselves and pay back the money. If someone does something to help you out then you should return the favour.

Cheers Alex

Maybe i should name her, but i doubt it would do any good. I could name people who where there when i dropped the enclosure off.... People who were amazed how cheaply I sold the enclosure to help her out... People like Slateman, Hix, Sdaji, Sheralyn, Teamsherman... They would all know who it is.

People with our interests should support each other, not stab each other in the back.

It is sad but true, "you cant trust anyone", and when you do, you regret it.

Name her, She should be known so she cant get away with it, so it dosnt happen to me or the next person.

Your not being spiteful or vengeful, your just warning me & others.

Name her but be diplomatic.

And give her a chance first, as it still maybe a bank issue, we all know how banks are.

There is no issue at law that you cannot name her, in fact legally she owes you the money.

If you can prove she as not made the agreed payment, you can recover that loss.

Goodluck with it, some people are just sad..

name her!! the suspense is killing me...i could have an educated guess...are they from an area of Sydney where they have heaps of money??? like the Northern Beaches perhaps???

Before you name anybody, I would recommend to sort out private sales privately. It is not point to drag others in to this unpleasant dealing.

Yes I was there, but have no idea what deal was between the seller and buer. I have no idea if cash did not take place in transaction and how much.
It is word of one person against the another one.
I know the people involved, they are ok as far as I know, and I don't want to be in the middle of this.
Please sort this out of forum if possible.

Good luck with money retreaval Jungleboy. At least this is good lesson for you in future.

I don't see how naming this person could be used against you legally, if you have the proof of bank statements etc. I personally am sick of being ripped off. If ppl were named it'd make things alot easier so others wont get ripped as well.

Unfortunately people like that force people like me to ask for full payment upfront, I really hate asking , but I do say if they are not happy with the enclosure then the full amount will be returned, and I hold on to the enclosure or re-sale...whats wrong with the world today...

Hey...thats not fair. I have to work long and hard as a guineapig in Dr Bunsen Honeydew's lab so that I can afford to live here.

You don't like me because I am different.

Just because I have skin that resembles a bath mat and some bloke whose name escapes me is up his elbows in me does not mean that I don?t have feelings. Shame on you junglemad...

You have even offended the Dr.

BTW. jungleboy I'd PM them. Give them one more chance to come clean and then add it in the trading feedback - that is what that part of the forum is for. There may actually be a good reason as to why the person has not paid in full. (perhaps that can't afford it and are too embarassed to come clean)

Foxy snake
problem is not with prooving things, We just don't like to start nasty fight in open forum again.

And as I said, the person can claim that some of the money was paid in cash. Remember that this deal was done with out any written agreement between 2 people only.

I believe jungle boy, he is nice person, but we don't need to talk this here.

I suggest you do a bit of brushing up Pugsley, there are several issues "at law" in naming(outing) people as bad debtors in public.
Weve seen this backfire before where persons have been named and it turns out to be a mistake.
