i was just curious what everyone thinks an acceptable temp is for the water sections with EWDS, crocs and Mertens?

I don't measure the temperature of my water. If its too cold they won't go in, or in middle of winter I'll turn the tap up a little to take the chill off the water. Mind you, my EWDs are juveniles so only have a water bowl as a swimming pool. I don't have crocs or mertens so can't comment for them.

yea i dont have a huge water area for my ewds there only juvies aswel, thanks for that mysnakes

for my EWD's as juvies it was just cold tap water at room temp as they were kept indoors.... the heating in the viv may have brought the temp up a bit, but i wouldnt worry about the water temp, they are very hardy.....
As adults they are kept outside, and the water temp gets very cold outside in adelaide, and they are frequently in the pond with no supplemental heating....

i have kept both fresh and saltwater crocs and there water was kept at a constant 28 degrees, i also provided a spot light over several large flat tiles as a (dry area) to bask.
cheers Matt

my saltys water is kept at 27-28 degrees, ifs its 26 or below he becomes less active, and if its 29 or above, hes savagely agressive. the freshies are kept at the same temp.

yep keep crocs around the 28 degree mark, mertons need the same water temps,26 to 28 degrees they live in the same area, waterdragons u dont need to heat there water, room temp is fine, the cage will warm there water enough

Yer 28 degree's uhuh yep thats right lmao....water dragons are the dirtiest critters ever! can you imagine if you heated their waterbowl... 90% of the time (even with several changes a day) they crap in there. The smell would be so much worse if it was heated...

What do you do with your crocs when they start getting on the big side? Do you hand them over to wildlife parks or release them or what do you do?

The freshwater up here is no where even close to 28C this time of year. Even in summer it does not get that hot. You can keep your water that temp no worries, but dont; kid yourself that it's natural.

mertens are dirtyer in there water bowls than water dragons, lol, but yes they bothy use them for there toilet so need frequent cleaning

And just what is natural about keeping reptiles in captivity? lol... Also when I picked up my boy the breeder told me if the water temps are too low the croc will eventually drop dead sooo I guess I prefer to be "un-natural" ;)...Btw so the fresh water in Queensland in summer doesn't reach anywhere near 28 degrees?..Thats very interesting I had no idea.
