I've heard this is meant to have some truth in this SP. They are, supposedly, meant to have an inner ear and can hear via vibrations like your typical hearing -except through a more primative means. Don't quote me on that though - but, I've definately heard it from a reliable source somewhere.

ANd what group are U part of Fuscus? that story wasn't related to u at all was it?!!!!! :(

Fuscus, are you getting these herp stories from the alsalzaberg digest? (or something like that anyway)

I thought some species of snakes can still utilise there inner ear parts by scencing vibrations. Air is not a good enough conductor of vibrations for a snake to scence however small vibrations in the ground may be. I think this was in the world around us special a few weeks ago. I could be wrong, ive heard and read conflicting views in regards to this... however it is fact that snakes do still have inner ear parts, they just lack the openings.
I guess its like if you grind your teeth or knock on your head.. you can hear the sound through vibrations of your skull, not from your ear openings, im guessing it would be simmilar to this...
