I gotta know! It looks a bit like a capsicum gone wrong, or some kind of really mouldy catcher's mitt! :?
I did a Google search on "Greebo", just in case that gave me a clue, but the only interesting topic I could find was the following. It might be accurate, but still doesn't tell me what his avatar is all about :
