I'm heading to Sydney then Port Macquarie with my family soon and thought I'd ask for ideas on what to do/where to go etc.

Thanks in advance

Yeah, what do you like doing?

My fave place in Sydney is Darling Harbour,, could spend all day just wandering.. just some of the things to do at DH include: Sydney Aquarium, Wildlife world, IMAX, Wax Museum..Maritime museum, SHOPPING.. also Paddys markets are not far.. you can ferry across the Harbour to Luna Park..and also go whale/dolphin watching.. there is also a Ferry to take you to Taronga Zoo :)

Go herping! Go off road into the bushland and find some nice animals to take photos of :D

Or you could just go to the beach like normal people. Visit Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour bridge, go fishing, jee there's alot of stuff to do!

in port macquarie theres the billabong wildlife park and the koala hospital i thinks its called there is also river cruises and creeks and bush areas mainly see water dragons

I have two boys (12 & 8) and they love animals so the wildlife parks, aquarium etc. sound good. We're staying in Sydney for a couple of nights then taking a motorhome to Port Mac and Stoney Park and will spend about a week doing 'touristy' things. Then we'll come back to Sydney (minus the motorhome).

If you follow the information in this post you can't go wrong - It pretty much has everything to do in Sydney covered. The only thing I can think to add is if you do decide to do the Aquarium/Wildlife World, etc. then buy the tickets online and get the package deal - You'll end up saving heaps of money.

Good call Rob.. we actually did this, and got tickets to Syd aquarium, wildlife world and Maddame Tusseuds for about 130$ for 3 of us..pretty good deal. You can easily do the three in one day, i think we did them all in only about 4 hours.. Wildlife world is ok for kiddies, i wasnt that impressed but takes alot to impress me these days lol
Also at DH there is a giant ferris wheel thingy..forget what its called, very exxy though..and of course the Monorail :)
Yep..i love darling harbour..lol have a great time :)

Thanks everyone. I must agree, I did like the sound of Sel's ideas.
I'll check out the tickets online - Thanks Rob
Anyone got any ideas on what we can see/do around the Port Macquarie area? I'm sure we'll find things along the way, but there might be that 'must do' that one of you can recommend.

in port macquarie theres indoor go-karts,billabong wildlife park :)

MrHappy you may want to stop in to the australian reptile park on the central coast it is on your way, and in port macquarie the koala park is great for the kids, this time of year all the beaches are great, the pubs are great if you need a break for you and the missus or just you lol,in wauchope which is 20 mins from port you can go to timbertown its like old sydney town but better imo, so 1 day koala park 2nd day pubs,3rd day beaches,4th day pubs,5th day timbertown, there your itenary is set have fun mate you will love port macquarie my parents are in wauchope so i only get up there twice a year but i never want to come back.....so nice just to sit around and do nothing up there.....
