I have a 12-13 month male Coastal Carpet

He's about 70-80cm long

And is in an enclosure that is
90cmx40cmx40cm (lxwxh)

I know that when he's fully grown he will need an enclosure that should be around
5x2x2ft

But when should I start looking at moving him into a bigger enclosure like that?
Should he already be in one?
At what length/age should I wait for?

I ask because I am re-designing his current enclosure with new things for him
But not too sure if I should save it or not?

So a coastal that can grow to 10' or 3.3mtrs long and with this species that loves to climb l can see why NSW is bringing in compulory enclosure sizing because personally l feel your future enclosure size is vastly inadequate [too small].....solar 17 [Baden]

I agree with Baden, i personally would go 4x4x2, the higher the better.

I agree with Baden as well. I am currently reading a book that suggests for arboreal species H = length of snake, L = 3/4 length of snake and W = 1/2 length of the snake. I don't think there are many people who use enclosures this big but as you can see for an 8-10ft arboreal snake 4x2x2 isn't great

Cheers guys

At what size should my snake be before I look at moving him into an enclosure that big?
Because I read somewhere that if I moved him in there too soon, the open space COULD stress him out

Yeah they he would sit in his hide all day and stress out if it's too big. The basic rule us that the enclosure should be half the size of the snake. I know this goes against what I said earlier but it's a good indication for when to move juvies into their proper enclosures.
