So my beardy is gravid and I need an incubator, before anyone says I can make one..I know, but at this stage I think I'd prefer not to muck around and get something already made and hooked up.. Basically I jst wanna know which ones are good, also I'm kinda on a bugdet so I'm basically looking for the cheapest one out.. In terms of the Inc itself, I def don't want a still air one.. So I dnt really care about the thermostat type, whether it's digital or mechanical display or watev.. Obviously would prefer digital coz it's jst easier but beggers can't be choosers, so as long as it's a fan forced one I dnt really care about anything else..jst need it to be accurate and reliable.. So if anyone has any suggestions on which I should buy, prices, links, or even has a 2nd hand one let me know
thanks

We use this badboy- works a charm- still though you need to buy a little digital probe monitor for like $15 to keep an eye on the internal temps as it is often off by 1-2 degrees.... Just slap your eggs in some vermiculite, throw the whole lot in the fridge and BAM- plus it also works as a bar fridge the rest of the year !!! Crikey !

Product Spiel:

The Lucky Reptile Incubator Lucky Reptile Herp Nursery 2 Reptile Egg Incubator is one of the very best off the shelf reptile incubators we have come across. With a built in thermostat and digital display it is easy to monitor your reptile eggs with the Lucky Reptile Incubator. The Lucky Reptile Incubator is also capable of heating and cooling which adds safety in the summer months as well as allowing it to double as a safe tool to hibernate tortoises and other reptiles.

Haha thats awesome hp, we have a car fridge but you cant set the specific temp, how much did that set you back and whats the temp range, accuracy, etc like on it? O and whre did you get it?

Ive seen it around at most places that stock reptile stuff- I think Exo-Terra makes one too- I think we paid $300 for it- I have seen them on the eBays for around $250- $280

...the digital reader on the front always seems to be out by a degree or two- but we use that digital probe anyway permanently in there so we can read it from the outside. Last year it worked perfect; all 23 eggs hatched and it kept the early hatchies warm until the rest busted out. I highly recommend it !

I have seen others just use a bar fridge or normal fridge with a heat cord or heat mat as well with sweet results- the beauty of this thing though is the way it regulates the temps- but you could add a thermostat to a barfridge/heat cord setup and have it running sweeto I reckon. As far as an off-the-shelf solution goes though this thing is great...

it goes way up beyond what is needed for reptiles- not sure what the max is- but lets just say it is cold enough to chill Coronas and hot enough to crank those eggs- at least 40 Im guessing- most eggs only need 28-30 and it goes well beyond that !!

i have/ use a reptapet incubator [ the foam box style] it works well . new i think there just under $200 .
the guy in somerville has a few of the Exo-Terra ones left , i have been tempted to buy one .

Lol..yeh jst came from the pet shop and the guy there said the same thing n gave me the specs on it.. It's like the pimp off all incs by the looks of
it ( although I thought it would be bigger) but yeh def out of my price range.. Maybe once I sell my first clutch off I'll upgrade to it if I have the moula.. Although let's face it I'll probz be very tempted to buy a ps3 instead lol

ívé seen the one in honestpirate's post on ebay for about $220, i got one exactly the same except it's exo terra branded from amazing amazon for about $300 i think. as HP said the display temp is off by about 1-2 degrees as the installed temp probe is located at the very top of the incubator, so gets the hottest reading

If you make your own, you can put the thermometer probe where you want. I place mine in the incubation tubs. I get about 0.5deg variance with this method.

Sofoula88, if the process of putting together your own incubator is a little daunting, I'm happy to help out via PM or in person. I'm in Melb also.

Yeah I was just wondering whether I could multipurpose it to do chook eggs when I don't need it for reps :D

Hey guys, so i got an incubator.. Ended up jst purchasing one which I found on eBay .. And I think I may have scored a big time bargain..but I could be wrong.. Anyway I got a reptapets incubator.. It's pretty cool and is exactly what I wanted.. It was $100 and I've seen them retail fro $155-$250.. In fact I'm prett sure it was the same one I saw tidy at the pet shop.. It was more than the pimp looking exo Terra one! Anyway so yeh it has all the same basic features..looks like the hovabator (styro box look) has 2 viewing windows .. Digital thermo with digital readout of the temp and humidity.. It's fan forced and has a light as well for night time viewing I guess.. Pretty neat.. Anyway I'm pretty excited and really happy with the price,as everything resembling those same features would of cost me.. Well you guys know.. You suggested them lol.. Anyway hopefully it'll be here soon and will work well and yeh
thanks for all the replies and wish me luck! Lol

Jas101 .. Yeh that 1! Except I got it alot cheaper... =/.. maybe I jst got lucky.. I'm kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop.. Lol.. It seems a little too good to be true but hoping it's all good..
