Hi,

Our young Darwin Carpet makes this really soft whistling noise when we handle him. It's every few breaths, and he has no discharge on his nose, nothing going on with his mouth, he's eating well and his temps and humidity are good.

His behavior is normal, and we've only heard him make the whistling noise outside the tank. He's happy to come out of his tank, so I don't really think it's stress related.

It's not RI is it? I googled it, and it seems kind of common...

Is this a behavioural thing, or should I be worried?

Don't worry until behaviour changes, or until symptoms worsen. Some snakes are noisier than others, some make whistling noises when they're coming up for a shed - if all else is fine - feeding, coiling normally, tongue-flicking as normal, it is unlikely to be anything serious... despite what you may be told here by the 2-week-experts!

If behaviour changes, seek advice. Until then, do what you've always done...

Jamie.

sometimes it is a small bit of skin left i their nose after they shed . nothing to worry if this is the case.it will generally come out on their next shed.
cheers
