Hello all

I was out walking in my local bush area today and found this log on sunday i got told how to clean them but now forget lol.

Can i use this one?

If so how can i clean it i think someone told me to wash in salt water then let sit in sun but cant remember. :oops:


There are so many up there i was so P off with my self for not taking the camera with me we found legless lizards and this cute little one i don't know what its called but it looks like the one in neven's album fast little b u g g e r s .


Any how can i use this one?

There's a million ways to prepare it. I'd probably give it a good spray with disinfectant (of which there are heaps, but I'd use 50-50 metho and water) then sit in the sun for a few hours. Soaking might also be a good idea to get rid of any wood boring insects, in which case you'll need to dry for longer. Alternatively you could stick it in the oven for a while.
 
depends what you want it for. We collected bits of drift wood from the beach for the turtle tank (rather nice bits I might add). They cost a fortune from the pet shop. We had to soak it for about 3 weeks in the bath tub until they stopped floating and staining the water. We collected some other wood from the bush for the beardies and I just made sure it was dry and I sprayed it with mite spray which killed heaps of little critters in it.
