Well every year work organises a fishing comp in one of Sydney's beautiful waterways, & those fortunate enough to have a vessel take on a couple of colleagues as crew members (read ballast, anchor boy/girl, bait boy/girl etc you get the picture). Anyhoo, so this I took Steve & Ben, at least ensuring that if the fishing was a dud, the conversation would be entertaining. I picked up Ben at 3:45am, launched the mighty Mullet Hustler at 4:30am, first lines in the water at 5am (official start time). First flathead in the boat at 5:30am, awesome. The weather was great (as you can tell in the pics), although by 11am, with no wind, & the humidity cming off the water when the temp was about 34C was a bit toasty. Anyway, we managed 5 flathead between us, the smallest going 57cm, the biggest 69cm. I personally choose not to keep any outside the 40-60cm range (smaller & they're too small, larger & they're big breeding females), so returned my 2 biggest & kept a 57cm model. I was flicking soft plastic lures ahead of the drift, the others were soaking baits behind the drift. They also released a mixed catch of small bream, flounder, whiting, tarwhine, cockney bream. We got back to the ramp, retrieved the boat, cleaned at all down & the fish, & had a sausage sizzle & a couple of beers when the awards were handed out. The mighty Mullet Hustler took champion boat, another bloke took biggest fish for an Aussie Salmon, & Steve got the "Golden Hook" award for dropping one of my rod holders into the drink. A great day was had by all, enjoy the pics.

PS: yeah yeah, before you say anything, I know having a Mullet Hustler cap on a boat of that name is a bit daggy, but my old man had it made years ago when I got the boat, & it's even more special 'cause he misspelt Mullet

looks like an awesome day, some nice lizards there tonsky and the mullet hustler looks like a real nice boat. do you ever take her outside on good days? we've got a charter at terrigal in 2 weeks time and i cant wait for it, havent wet a line since last summer. hoping to catch a kingie or 10.

looks like you guys had a good time. and their nice sized flatties.
seeing those photo's makes me want to go fishing now ;)

Cheers thanks all.
Yeah, it was a cracker of a morning. I have a tendency to be a bit of a bad weather magnet, so it was nice to get a good one. The Mullet Hustler is a '99 Ally Craft Bay Raider with a Yamaha 40 2 stroke, all going great, not bad for a 10yo rig. Flatties are one of my faves, love catching them, & anything around the 45-55cm size is awesome on a plate.
