I have tried googling this but keep getting conflicting information. I have a 2 year old childrens python and I just want to double check how much she should be eating. Some sites say 1 mouse a week, some say 2. Or 2 every 10 days. At the moment she is having 1 large mouse a week and gets a nice bulge in her belly after eating so I'm hoping that's enough. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Age probably doesn't matter. How big is it? Why are you feeding it? To grow it bigger? maintain it? Breed it? is cost a consideration? if so rats are normally cheaper per unit weight!

She's about 1 metre. Not for breeding or growing bigger. ( I don't think she has any more growing to do??? ) Isn't a fully developed mouse better for her than a younger rat?

As long as the rat has bone and fur, say weaner plus, its ball park the same nutritonal value as a mouse.
