Does anyone else think that it's possible to toilet train herps? I am unsure myself, but have noticed that Steve doesn't poop in his enclosure anymore, but as soon as I take him outside he will go on the lawn.
I only thought about it last night when I took him out last night for the first time...
I was reading some post on fb saying what will I get if I breed this with that etc..... I find it quite annoying when these sorta people ask these questions, because it goes to show they have no understanding of the general genetics of their snakes, so therefore have no plan in regards to what...
hey i was just wondering if someone can give me some heads up on a enclosure that i would like to build for my black headed python.
im going to build it out of marine ply and the measurements im going with are dimension: 1700cm 740cm width 710cm hight, now this is for a bhp is this plenty of...
Can someone explain to me the "no time wasters please" comment on what seems like every reptile classified.
Now i'm no expert, but if retail or car salesman wanted to refuse talk to anyone unless it were a guaranteed sale, they'd soon be told where to go.
I'm certainly not talking from any...
Just putting my feelers out, purely out of curiosity because I haven't seen alot of interest in herpetology in WA, are there many keepers of black heads? I'm far from able to keep one myself, just wondering why it's so uncommon to see them for sale?
Keepers and/or breeders please feel free to...
A mate of mine had this and another die just before hatching. They had coloured eyes but as you can see this one has some black on its head and is enlarged. The other one had a normal sized head and no black at all. They were from normal Bhp pairings.
Ok playing Devil's advocate here...
Justin Julander keeps pairs of carpets together all year round. He is one of the main guys involved with carpets and many other snakes for that matter. Now if it's good enough for him, why do so many people with only a fraction of his experience say not to do it?
As curiosity has gotten the better of me I thought I would try to post this question as a bit of fun.
Do you have a story behind "how" you named your snake? I've seen some pretty interesting names and thought it would be interesting to hear the meanings or stories behind the names.
I'll...

Hey dudes and dudetts :p
i haven't made any steps towards it yet, including saving lol, but I want to one day soon become a breeder, but aside from an incubator, I have no idea what I need to have or do. Any first timer tips?
sam.
My 8month old woma had a trouble shed last month so when his eyes clouded up a few days ago I thought I'd just leave him alone and not interfere to "help" this time.
Just checked on him and this is what I found. Should I leave him alone to rub the rest off or put him in a bath? There are flakes...
Im sure this thread has been done a million and one times but it always is a fun one. And nothing wrong with living in dream land.

Hi all, i am wanting to pair up my caramel coastals... BUT the female is very cage defensive. Every time i go to put him in, she strikes at him, i dont want her to bite him. is there a way around this?
Kind Regards
Nick.
Hey, lately my jungle python has not been constricting her food and was just wondering if it should be a concern. Previously, she had constricted multiple meals but lately she has not. She has all the normal signs of interest before she strikes but when she does, she no longer constricts but she...

Hi all, last night I had my 9 month old darwin out for a handling session and I decided to weigh him, the last time I weighed him was 2 months ago and he weighed 99g.
Last night when I weighed him he was 191g, I was so surprised I thought there was some thing wrong with my scales so I reset them...
After reading a recent thread on here that was causing a bit of heated discussion it got me thinking about a few of the comments and how it affects us as reptile keepers/enthusiasts. A lot of us keep an eye on...
Does no one prefer the classic forms of reptiles anymore? It seems all I read is people getting excited over 'super, lime, banana-heads' and what not. I get that a lot of breeders make their living off these highly sought after forms and therefore will defend it passionately but is it going too...
So I was looking at my snake and I noticed a patch of his darker colored scale what looks like a heart. I thought it was cool anyone else have any reptiles with cool/unusual patterns?

I have resarched on and off this forum in regards to BHP sizes.
I know they get big and it seems unanimous that the QLD variety are the biggest. However, I have read on some sites the WA are just as big and the NT are smaller and other sites saying the opposite.
I know that within a locale it...
I apologize in advance as this question has probably already been asked, but I can't find previous posts.
I recently acquired a 2yo male BHP. He's approximately 1.4m long, haven't got a weight on him yet.
His previous owner fed him 3 medium rats in one sitting monthly. Is this ideal? Could I...
Ive done a lot of reading about click-clacks and have also read the DIY on it as well, but what my gf and i were thinking of doing was building 2x small vivs i have read that a size of no bigger than 300x300x150, we were thinking of melamine all sides with a lockable hinged top or front with a...

In the process of building a couple of large enclosures for BHP/Bredli. Can anyone recommend minimum glass thickness for the doors? (Doors will be approx. 2 feet/60cm tall by a little over 3 feet/90ish cm wide) Cheers.
I am trying to find some templates for a chart to monitor growth, feeding, etc for my BHP that I am getting in the near future. I have tried google but haven't found much. Does anyone else use these and have a template that they would like to share?
Hey guys.
I've had a 6 month Stimson python for about 3 weeks and he hasn't eaten yet.
The pet store sold me a terrible all glass enclosure that fails to keep the heat in sufficiently. I was a told a 75watt ceramic heat emitter would be sufficient however it only reached about 23 degrees. I...
As well as the shot glasses in the other thread, we are also thinking of custom laser etched glass photos of your reptiles. Something along the lines of you submitting your photo(s) and we etch into a panel of glass mounted in a frame. A unique way of displaying photos of your pets.
Examples...
just curious as to other peoples experience and opinions on the topic of feeding snakes in a tub outside the enclosure or feeding them in their enclosure and using tap training to avoid getting bitten. i leaned towards the feeding tub option as the babies are currently sharing the enclosure and...
I've seen several keepers/breeders keeping their snakes in plastic tubs such as these:
I was hoping for a cheaper alternative to the more extravagant glass/wooden terrariums available and I noticed plastic tubs seem to be fairly popular.
In any case, I have several questions regarding the...
Unfortunately I have to sell my wonderful collection of snakes. I have 1 breeding pair of Black headed pythons (female is possibly graved) 1 breeding pair of High yellow Jungle pythons.

Hey Guys I've got my Jungle/Diamond Python and he is about to have his first shed since Ive had him. I fed him around five days ago and he still hasnt done a poo, just wondering if this is normal behaviour before they're about to shed. Also any tips to help with his shedding is appreciated :) Thanks
I've noticed a lot of DIY fake rocks being posted lately. One of the worst looking fake rocks you can have, is one that is all the same colour. Rocks are rarely if ever mono-tone. Having a single colour rock background looks awful. However the good news is, that with some acrylic paints you can...
I have a little blonde spotted he is a awesome little guy great to handle, active and good looking ;) But he has refused 4 feeds....Temps are good he is in a 2 litre sistema with water and a hide. He just doesn't seem interested in the little pink mice at all  Any suggestions?? If...
I just received my Cat 4 licence upgrade here in the West so I have a few more keeping options now, I have been eyeing up a BHP since I got into reptiles but Captive bred hatchies are around the $1500 mark and seem to be in limited supply.
Womas are obviously a cheaper option and lovely animals...
Hello everyone,
I am thinking of getting synthetic grass for a substrate for my two coastals and beardy but am wondering if its good/easy to clean. At the moment I have news paper and it's not the best aesthetically speaking. I am also considering critter crumble but I'm worried about them...
Hi everyone.
I thought I'd make my first post after lurking around here for a little while.
Always been a fan of snakes but only recently became a fellow snake owner earlier this year, along with my brother and his girlfriend.
They are extremely addictive, and trying to refrain from just buying...
i recently purchased a bredli hatchy
initially everything was fine and he never struck for the first two weeks
but for the last two weeks he has been very protective of his enclosure and even once out is still striking at every move
is this normal and/or what are the best ways to overcome this?
My woma hatchie went milky 5 days ago, and 3 days ago his eye caps came off but he's not shed yet. What did I do wrong?
I gave him a swim yesterday arvo and again just now and while his body is scrunchy, his head hasn't come off even though he's rubbing his head on absolutely everything...
Hey guys I'm building an enclosure an I was initially goin to use melamine but have changed my mind as I want something more appealing to the eye an reading a few articles I've read some wood can be harmful :/ so any suggestions to a wood that is easy to work with an that looks good this is my...
Hi everyone,
I moved to Australia from the UK about a year ago and I left my beloved Carpet Python, Pilbara, behind in the UK :-( Obviously Australian immigration laws for animals are very strict (and rightly so too!) but I am really keen to have my snake over here with me (he is the family pet...
So am having troubles finding photo's of Woma enclosure set-up's on here so thought i would start a specific thread. Wanting to see all the great ideas you guys come up whether for hatchies, juvies or adults.
I know its a little early this year (well it is for me) but i was just seeing if anyone has any girls belly up looking like a sausage full of marbles yet? Post pics of your Gravid Girls.. :)
So far ive got one mossman stimi who is looking good this season. ill post a pic when she is for sure.
