So not so long ago I was over in WA for a bit more than two weeks. The trip was with my family celebrating my finishing school and was primarily with the aim of finding as many geckos as possible.
We started off in Perth where I got to see a couple new species for me, both little brown...
Hi Everyone.
Just got back from a trip up to Mt Gould (NW of Meekatharra) with a mate.
Turned out to be a good trip, even though the first 2 days we had rain and that I was sick as can be for more than half the time we were up.
It is still a bit cool up there at the moment, unfortunately we...
Met this little fella today, but not quite sure about his species...he's a Ctenophorus, but which one?
Possibly a Spotted Military Dragon (maculatus)????

I recently posted four "photo guides" to Australian lizards. To find and photograph these lizards, I travelled whenever possible to many different parts of the continent. So far, I have visited all States with the exception of the Northern Territory. Here are photos of the places that I...
At last, here is my final installment of the photo guide to Aussie lizards. Work was all consuming for awhile but things are settling again.
This post will cover the dragons and monitors.
Burn's Dragon (Amphibolurus burnsi) -- the first photo is of a lizard near Hughenden, Qld. I think...
Here is a different view of some of the Australian lizards. Macro shots often reveal intricate patterns that are not so obvious in the normal full-body or portrait photographs. When examined like this, these lizards seem to be living, breathing works of art.
1) Eastern Spiny-tailed Gecko...
After Kalbarri, my wife and I drove north for about 5 hours to Denham, a small town on the central peninsula into Shark Bay. As we drove north, we left the sands and the beautiful wildflower country. This was replaced by mulga woodland. Further along, mulga trees replaced by low-growing...
Hello everyone,
I have been so busy at work lately that I have not had time to post. I have spent a fair bit of time back in a frosty Tasmania.
These photos were taken in a much warmer place. They are the combined results of a trip to the Exmouth area in November, 1995, with my son...
Kalbarri National Park is well worth a visit. This scenic park is roughly an 8 hour drive north of Perth. The main habitat of the park consists of arid shrubland that is a mass of colour in the spring. The park protects a beautiful gorge carved by the Murchison River. The coastal section of...
I visited Monkey Mia, Western Australia, with my son in November, 2005, and then again with a friend in February, 2007. On both visits, we stayed at the campground in the Monkey Mia Resort. This is a very dry place and the resort runs a desalinator night and day to produce drinking water...
Hi All,
This is part two of my Western Australia odyssey. Part one is here, and some lead up is on my blog.
