hey everyone,
it's my first time brumating my reptiles, and it's been a learning curve so far.
I've dropped the heat, in time not temperature, and taken away about 2 hours of lighting for everyone.
But I don't know if they are actually 'brumating' or not, I say this because both my Diamond...
Hey everyone,
So I finally got my pink tongue skink, and admittedly I did get it from a pet store, although a reptile one.
The guy who sold me the skink (said he used to keep them) said that all they needed was banana, dog/cat food and snails, and I believe that's all it's been fed on. This...
Came across this lizard in Lamington National Forest (SE QLD) this weekend. At first I thought (and maybe correctly) that it was a juvenile blue tongue lizard. The shape, striping and tongue color (blue) were all consistent with what I know of the reptile. BUT, the tongue was forked and quickly...

Hey all.
I flew up to NSW last week for some herping around the Hunter Valley with a few mates.
After getting off the plane, we went for a poke around some spots in Newcastle.

Since arriving in Australia 4 months ago, I've had the chance to spend a lot of time herping in and around SE Queensland, and have been lucky enough to be shown some fantastic spots by a mate local to the area. Our time is coming to an end in this area, as we're heading north to Cairns for Xmas...
Well while you haven't seen a hundred threads, that doesn't mean I haven't been out frantically herping every night since my last thread. I've finally gotten some pictures of some snakes and a dodgy shot of a leaftail which I promised myself I would get before making this thread.
So here we go...
We found this lizard out the back a few days ago, minor birds were attacking him so we moved him to safer ground. At first it looked like a blue tongue but the tongue is clearly not blue. I'm more of a snake person so I couldn't really tell. Any ideas?
Wooooo! :D
I found an ad for a sub adult pink Tongue, with tank and accessories, for only $200! I was gunna get a Pink Tongue on my birthday but this will be my early birthday present as the seller has to move soon, so it needs to be gone.

From the Mt. Ossa area, Gus and I drove to the Eungella Plateau. The plateau is covered with rainforest and is home to another of the 4 endemic Phyllurus that are found near Mackay.
Here are a couple of habitat shots from Eungella. These photos were from Finch Hatton Gorge, an area that...

We left Charters Towers and headed back to the coast and up to Tully. We arrive mid-afternoon, and went for a short walk to see what we could see. Down by the river I saw a little head peeking out of a hole in a tree stump. I waited patiently for the body to emerge.

On New Year's Eve I was kickin' it old school, by driving up a mountain to look for crocodiles. We didn't find any crocodiles, but we did come across some other reptiles. There seemed to be a few other like-minded people up the mountain. If you were up there, you may well have seen me. I was the...

My wife and I spent most of our recent holiday (early Sep) at Mission Beach, Qld. Mission Beach is about a 90 minute drive south of Cairns.

In January, my wife and I spent 10 days in Brisbane. I was there for work so was not able to to much herping. We did visit the Lamington Plateau on a weekend (subject of another post). I also went night driving in the Mt. Glorious area on three occasions and this report will include the...
It's been raining and/or overcast in Brisbane pretty much continuously since early December. This is great for our drought-stricken city but not particularly great if you want to get out and look for reptiles. Yesterday, there was a break in the rain in Brisbane (though other parts of South-east...

I am so disappointed in NPWS. A person came into my shop, and knows that I keep reptiles. He has told me that a mate of his has some diamond hatchies and they need homes.
Now, I haven't seen him this week, and I don't know if his "mate" is licenced or not. I talked to NPWS, and asked that...
