This time I went up to Mt. Kosciusko as part of a Botany trip for uni in Feb.
On the way to the first site we stopped to check out Little River Gorge, the largest gorge in Victoria, very impressive.
The first stop was in a mixed white box and white cypress pine dominated community near...
Instead of the usually fire works or getting blind drunk at a music festival I was lucky enough to spend my new years up at Falls Creek in the Victorian high country. We spent a week trapping for small mammals, bats and reptiles and with plenty of keen naturalists there was always someone...

Last Sunday, my wife and I visited Mt. Field National Park in the south-central portion of Tasmania. This park is only about an hour's drive from Hobart.
After entering the park, we continued up the road to the "high-country" (1000m) near Lake Dobson. The day was cool but we had a...
Hello Everyone,
Found this little snake yesterday in the Blue Mountains.
I'm pretty sure it's a Drysdalia rhodogaster, same family as the white lipped snake. Anal Scale was definitely single, and the eye looks too big to be a Crowned snake, that should also have a divided anal scale...
I thought Punja was going to be in for a treat at my fav herping ground this afternoon.....but alas...it was as boring as I've ever seen it..... nothing...not even the rustle of a common garden skink.
After I literally travelled to the ends of the earth to collect Punja I noticed this...
Just wondering what snakes are allowed to be kept in Tassie, is it only the 3 native sp. ?
I've been given a job opportunity and I imagine I would have to sell my snakes if I were to move ?
Hi all,
I am after a Juvenile or adult White Lipped Snake for my collection. I am in Tasmania therefore it must be from within Tassie. If you have any excess white lips you want to offload please email me. I would be very keen to obtain a breeding pair, if possible. If you know someone with...

Different Sp. of pythons are there?
Or rather how many different Pythons i.e Morelia Spilota Chenyei and Morelia Spilota McDowelli count as two not one.
Obviously not including morphs, also say scrubs for example they come from different parts like the tanimbar, and halmahera and Moluccan...
Post from doc after judgement.
All in all, that was a good effort. When you give out the scores could you point out that I rewarded points for picking the differences and for pointing out the exceptions to the rule as well (e.g. snakes have forked tongues and lizards don?t ? except goannas...

I have a person I've corresponded with who is worried about getting bitten by their Python. I'm guessing to say the Python is only a yearling! I've given a bit of dodgey advice (something to do with chain-mail and a welding helmet) on how to settle both the Handler and handlee! Perhaps it would...
