Hi, I just thought I'd post this newspaper article with Olivehydra and AFTCRA releasing Mary River turtle hatchlings into the wild on Friday 16th March 2007.
The release was overseen by the EPA and all the appropriate permission was granted!
Cheers,
Craig
Does anyone here know much about yabbies?
Here's the story:
We had 3 larger yabbies (say adult size yabbies) and 4 yabbies a bit smaller in size (say half the size of the large ones). Anyway we brought 10 feeder fish for the yabbies and the next day we had 1 feeder fish left. Then for weeks...
I have 2 longicollis (10cm SCL) and am considering the idea of adding a shortneck in with them. I have been told this may be feasible, but am not sure if some species would be better suited to this than others, behaviourally (climate already considered). I am keen to get something a little less...
On Friday 16th February we became the first private breeders in Australia to breed and release into the wild an endangered species. We released 60 Mary River turtle hatchlings after first diving and inspecting the location for good habitat! We had someone from Natural resources and mines, and...

Just wondering who would be interested in a bus trip to the Riverina Frog & Reptile Society's Swap meet in March.
The bus would leave Campbelltown at about 6pm on Friday 16th of March and return on Sunday at about lunch time. The cost would be about $40 per person depending on numbers. We...
Hi Just thought I'd mention (for all the turtle freaks out there) that we have bred our 3rd clutch of Mary River turtle hatchlings so far with 2, maybe 3 more to come this season.
The only reason that I mention this is that they are so hard to breed in captivity with even large institutions...
I just finished watching Chanel 9's tribute...and I ended up in tears....theres alot of things great you can say about him, but its upto everyone to play a small part in this world to make a small differnce in your local area...cinservation, wildlife the natural world...is it a losing battle to...
As a lot of you know I have recently become a member of AFTCRA.
Anyway, perhaps the biggest challenge AFTCRA has in front of us is to conserve the Mary River Turtle. If that damn dam goes ahead then we will almost certainly lose Mary River Turtles in the wild. They will soon (hopefully...

Does anyone here know the reasoning behind the NSW NPWS class 1/2 restrictions for Woma's? BHP's are available for class 1's... but why not Woma's? Kind of dissapointing really as I haven't held my license for two consecutive years (I've had breaks in between)..
Cheers,
Peter.
Can anyone tell me why a Woma comes under schedule 4 and you need an advanced licence in the Vic regs and Blackheades are in schedule 3 and you only need a Basic licence. :?
It seems a little odd to me that these 2 are Aspidites but are listed different..!!
