What was your first snake and what were the problems you had with keeping them?
My first was a coastal carpet. He was great but didn't want to eat when I first got him. Didn't take long though and he was (and still is) a guts.

This has been a good year so far for finding reptiles in Wollongong. Overall, the weather has been cool and fairly wet, but there have been enough warm days mixed in to bring out the snakes and lizards.
Here are a few shots of Wollongong and the surrounding areas where I search. Wollongong...

Hey Guys,
RBBS are supposed to be one of the lesser venomous snakes eh? I attempted to force feed my poor little Otis as he will only eat live food - I just cant get any food for him now as winter nears. He turn his nose up at live mice etc etc etc. He is always been a reluctant biter, as they...

Well it has been a big week for me. I am always dying to just 'bump into' snakes about the place, but it never usually happens for me. Now, in the space of a week, I have had (almost) three encounters!

Hi down the bush where i live (sydney) theres alot of snakes near a water pipe so when i go down here i see them. i dont know what type it is its small and brown but not very aggressive
It's a pretty unfortunate situation in NSW where species such as Yellow-faced Whipsnakes, Golden-crowned Snakes, Swamp Snakes etc are extremely rare in captivity. In fact if you want to keep a venomous snake, it is quite likely you're first is going to be the dangerously venomous Reb-bellied...
