Its quite the week for Reptile versus Reptile.
This water python deciding to munch on a scrubby. It was apparently found in Cairns, however someone bravely or foolishly seperated the two.
These rainbow serpents are a very irridesscent bloodline, with a very bright mustard yellow/orange underside.
Not your typical water.
Hatched December 2013,feeding great on thawed fuzzy/pinky mice.
Raised in pristine conditions.
A smaller growing form only 1.5m maximum in length when mature...
Thought it might be fun for people to share pics of themselves with their snakes. These were taken earlier today.
Yes Prince is close to my face, but if I get bitten it'll be my own fault, I accept that ;)
Shoalhaven Reptile Club this Friday 7th February.
Brett Allen (aka Brettix) our guest, with some interesting beardy morphs for show and tell. Along with a presentation on how he keeps and breeds these animals.
The Big Shed, Shoalhaven Zoo at 6:30 pm. BBQ and raffle. All welcome
Hi all, i am very interested in getting a begginer snake. i want something that can tolarate being handled and not one that needs a big container. i am willing to take a few hours a day and almost all day seting it up, i have been looking at childern and spotted pythons because they say they are...
First night out for the year, after a bit of rain the past couple of days. 4 Carpets, 1 Hatchling ven that was either a Coastal Taipan or Brown (off the road and into the grass before we could get a decent look), a Gecko that we found while looking for the ven off the side of the road (lol) and...
2 days ago I heard a strange noise from my 3yr old olive it was a constant hiss sounding like the noise an elephant beetle makes. He also was stretching his jaws too. he looked a bit agitated. sitting on the sofa about 5m away wondered if it was a mite problem as had ground fleas around due to...
I produced a clutch of Jungle eggs this year that have turned out to have some quite unusual patterning going on. I wanted to make this thread in hopes of gathering some information from those who have produced similar clutches, or others that might have more of an insight.
A bit of a back...
hey guys, i hear a lot of talk about people bathing there snakes. is it recommended or beneficial in any way? and if so is there anything special needs doing, water temps, depths etc...
I have 2 darwin pythons which are sisters both are in their own enclosures . One of them was constantly in her small water bowl so I have been making the bowls bigger . As she was constantly tipping over her water I have put a large 3 lt plastic tub in her enclosure . She would now spend most...

I have a couple spare males feedin great on fuzzy mice, I'm willing to part with from my water python project, they could possibly carry a hidden gene, the males for sales are your typical looking qlds water python, most are still snappy but should settle. Picture is of the father, $250ea...
I just had my Spotted out tonight who I tend to let curl around my neck to hang out for 10 minutes or so. Tonight he started squeezing and it actually became quite tight and it got me to wondering at what size it's a good idea to have a second person around in case this kind of thing happens...
A good friend has allowed me to take a couple of pics of some of his white lips and post them.
These animals are 100% legal.
Absolutely stunning animals to say the least. They will be available to everyone in the hobby in a few years time.
Hey y'all, not sure if I'm in the right thread, correct me if so.

So, the day finally came.. I was bitten by my MDC python for the first time yesterday. I had tried using the listerine, but he was pretty resilent.0 After about ten minutes and a blue hand, a whole bottle of water tipped over his head, he released his grip! He had managed to grip between my...
Hey all,
why is that no one seems to have Rough Scaled Pythons. Is there something about them that makes them not a good python to keep? From what I've read they seem like great pets.
Plus they've got the added bonus of looking spectacular with those captivating eyes and that stunning head...
Wondering if anyone could help me out. I want to put a waterfall type constructing in my next project. I want the pump to be external though, sort of like a cheap mini canister filter with a intake pipe and a output pipe. It needs to be fairly small as it will be behind a hollowed out bit of the...
I was beginning to despair - two ponds, abundant green tree frogs (so noisy I can't watch tv when it rains), plenty of trees, chickens, more rodents than you can poke a stick at (feral rats + a caged population of snake food) & I've never found a snake in the garden.
I reckon this fella was...
My 9-10 month boy Neo, (childreni) is coming into his first at home shed! :D Everything is going as I read, scales turning cloudy/dull and his eyes are going milky. He still ate on Tuesday though (very happy!)
I gave him a bath that day, something nice and warm to help kick start the shed. He's...
So my new python Ezio wont eat and isn't really interested in food at all. Calm to handle even though he's only been there for a week.
He doesn't even smell it, just goes away and when you put it near him when he goes away or tap him with it to get attention he changes direction and speeds...
G'day 6-7 months ago I got my first Python, a Central Carpet Python and I love the guy. Now I have been working towards getting a few more pythons and have a fair bit of cash to spend. I really like the Jungle carpet pythons and the Spotted pythons but the Diamond python is the one I have been...
I was looking at a 5yo water python today, great looking snake at a great price for 1 reason, it bites.
I put this down to the fact that its an ex breeding snake so it wasn't socilized much for its 1st 3 1/2 years of its life, add to that its enclosure is way to small IMO. The enclosure is...

Wow this sudden cold snap in Brisbane has made finding anything decent to look at Herp wise, even the Aussie Pythons at the Australia Zoo have gone into hiding except for 1 amazing looking Water Python and a huge Coastal about 3m, checked out a few likely looking places around Beerwah and...
Hey guys,
I have recently been allowed to get a pet snake and I have done some research. I'm not sure what snake is best for beginner, a Stimson or children's python. I like the look of Stimson pythons better but I would rather have a snake that I can look after easier than one that looks...
Im sure this thread has been done a million and one times but it always is a fun one. And nothing wrong with living in dream land.

My water disappears within two days inside my tank, which can be a pain because due to my job, I can be away for 4-5 days.
Has anyone got a solution to water evaporation from water bowls?
All I'm running is a night time purple light.
Curious to see how everyone ended up with scalies in their house and at what age. :) For me it is how ancient and different they are, and how successful they have been over millions of years.
So after being shutdown about a possible turtle/ snake combo, would a walking fish and water python combination be possible?
The only problem I can see is with water temp.
Hi guys,
So i have had my Woma for 6 months now and love the little guy. However it seems i have caught the bug and am finding myself wondering more and more of what my next one might be. I dont plan on getting another for another 18months but i like to be prepared and know what im getting and...

Hi guys!

Was just wondering if anyone has any good close up photos of different python scales showing all the patterns and colours?
In particular I'm after a photo of water python scales or diamond python, but any will do. I'm looking for some inspiration for designing some...
