Just wondering if you guys can help ID this little guy? Found him in my toilet in the Byron Bay Area. And yes I washed my hands extremely well after getting him/her out.

Hi all,
Its been a while since i have put a post up, so I will try and put everything from the year in one
big post. There will be a few areas of Australia covered. I am still working in Mount Isa in
North-west Queensland, however I am now living in Brisbane. This change has given me a...

So I went to a spot I've been to a few times, but after the rain alot of frogs came out. Probably the highlight of the night was watching an echidna do his/her thing for a little while, without even worrying about me.
And of course the endless amount of keelbacks hah, probably saw 60-70...

This is the only pic that ours friends got. May be a bit hard to id this one. We told them that in the future makes sure they get pics from all angles.
While Hinchinbrook was great for hiking, now that I'm back home I've done better herping in my own garden. It was a timely arrival for one of my Green Tree Frogs. In the evening I heard the frog 'screaming" for help. Went out to see what all the ruckus was about and there was this Slatey-grey...
Got a slightly better camera(canon 50D) on monday so thought I'd share some wild herp pics I've taken since then, enjoy!

Recently I spent 3 weeks volunteering in the Eastern Kimberley with a scientific project radio tracking monitors, both Varanus panoptes and Varanus mertensi. The research was being conducted at El Questro Station a popular tourist destination in the East Kimberley and involved many different...
so i went herping today and saw a few animals and would like an ID on every animal if you know cause i dont know any of them. :) except for the coastal. and the diy background ive done at the start.
So recently I volunteered with Jo Ocock of UNSW to help with frog abundance surveys in the Macquarie Marshes for her PhD.
It was a great trip and I got to see 13 species of frog and a bunch of new reptiles for me. I also got to take some pictures of some of those which I thought I'd share.

Found my new best friend tonight. I think I have it narrowed down to a species but I'd love opinions as the pic in the book does this little treasure no justice.
He was very quiet to handle and I got a very good look at him.
I thought I'd post these really gorgeous photos I grabbed of these three gorgeous GTF's that we found out in the backyard. It's awesome to see more frogs then toads and I'd say the toad:frog ratio is at least 1:2 out here (2.5ac, big dam). My boyfriend has spent the past few years trying to...
A colleague and I recently got back from a herping trip through the Pilbara ranges. We were hoping to travel further north to the port headland area to try our luck for some Womas and Black headeds but unfortunately we were hit by the full force of mother nature. When it rains up there it...
So not so long ago I was over in WA for a bit more than two weeks. The trip was with my family celebrating my finishing school and was primarily with the aim of finding as many geckos as possible.
We started off in Perth where I got to see a couple new species for me, both little brown...
Hi,
This is my first herping post! I don't know if it's strictly "field" herping because I didn't actually have to go anywhere, and also my Complete Guide to Reptiles of Australia is still lost in a box somewhere, but hey. I last lived in inner-city Melbourne and geckoes and frogs, however...
I found a few frogs tonight while walking at the wetlands with my little girls , photos are not the best but i was wondering if anyone can ID the brown frogs for me ?
cheers Nico
my girls :)
These 3 i found at the same spot the other day , theres a centrepede in the hole on the bottom...
I found these frogs aprox 40 west of Dalby along the Moonie Hwy QLD, in the 2011 floods. I cannot identify what they are, I assume they are both the same type being male and female calling each other while it was raining. There so many frogs out at night it was insane, the misses couldn't sleep...
Hi,
I found this little guy (it wasn't fat when I found it) as it was about to be eaten by some very naught puppies.
I know the picture is not great but it changes colour from a dark brown to this light creamy colour. The insides of its legs are yellow.
I found it in the Maitland area...
Salutations forumites,
First a few warnings. There is quite a lot of text in this post as a consequence of the amount of material. Feel free to skip it and look at the pretty pictures if you please. Also, the photos in this post were taken with both a Canon DSLR and an Olympus point-and-shoot...
These are the frogs that we encountered on the trip, because of the wet weather there were frogs everywhere and we didn't stop for many so I'm sure many species were missed.
I have attempted to ID some of the frogs but others I have no idea. If somebody could give a positive identification on...
my house has been invaded by baby frogs atm, i removed about 15 baby GTFs and about 10 little brown ones and one multi coloured one, i was wondering what the brown ones and the multicoloured one are please, im in the north west slopes and plains near gunnedah if that helps
Hi guys,
Just some pics from my trek across the NT this past month looking for some frog species I haven't seen before. It was a fairly successful trip with 19 new ones in all - unfortunately I was a bit late following the rains in the desert so I missed out on most of the frogs of the arid...
I'm a ticker (as my recent Quest for 250 saga shows). I have a list of reptiles that I've seen. I like adding to my list. I woke up one day in early October and realised I'd never seen Cyclodomorphus venustus. This both shocked and worried me. What if I got hit by a bus today? Was I really happy...
I haven't seen a frog like this one before...what kind is it?? He was so tiny, I found him under some bark on a log I was moving...he was hidden in there with 2 others.
Thanks
Hi all,
Just got back from a rather long drive from Sydney to Cairns looking for rainforest frogs of the wet tropics. Also saw lots of other herps, mammals and birds along the way.
Frogs recorded:
Austrochaperina fryi
Austrochaperina pluvialis
Bufo marinus
Cophixalus infacetus...
We went night driving during each of our three nights at the Warrumbungles. The first and third nights were cool and we did not see much. The second night was overcast and remained warmer for longer and was quite productive.

Hey Guys (and girls),
Here's a couple pics of a few things I've found over the past few months herping...
Enjoy...
A Lacey (I assume) that was in our carpark... I'd say it was roughly a sub adult...
A BEAUTIFUL massive carpet (8ft+ roughly) that we almost hit down our road on...
A huge thunderstorm hit the Windorah area on the afternoon as we approached from the south. Flash floods cut the road for awhile in the afternoon until the water levels dropped once again. We arrived late so we weren't delayed but we could see debris on the road. There were pools on the sides...
Hi All, on Sunday we got back from 12 days in Cairns and the Daintree. On previous trips we have been pretty unlucky with only the odd reptile ever seen, but this time the weather was warmer and more humid. It was great!!!!!
Started seeing stuff from our first day there. Spent the first 6 days...
In February, 2007, a friend and I visited the Goldfields area of Western Australia. In this post, I will include photos of animals that we encountered in the Wiluna/Leonora/Laverton area. The habitat here looked great and it seemed to hold lots of potential for snakes. In the end, we saw few...
