I was just reading another thread which got me thinking about how many species of snakes I've spotted in my yard.
On an acreage block in SEQ, I have seen a couple of RBBs pass through.
There was a communal nest of yellow-faced whip snakes under the thicket adjacent to the house.
I once removed...

Okay, so before I start this Thread I'd like to point out that I have never caught and kept a snake from the wild and all my snakes were bought from a breeder and are registered on my licence.
I often ponder the thought of how I would react to stumbling upon some amazing genetics of a reptile...
G'day
I got a perfect shed from my diamond python yesterday. No rips, holes or pieces missing, absolutely perfect. The shed is about 2.8m long so i'm keen to preserve it and put it on the wall. Ive seen sheds laminated before and they looked great.
Anyone have any advice on doing this or know...
I was reading some post on fb saying what will I get if I breed this with that etc..... I find it quite annoying when these sorta people ask these questions, because it goes to show they have no understanding of the general genetics of their snakes, so therefore have no plan in regards to what...
Need ideas for a background for enclosure and heat lamp and lighting also
Hey everyone.
I was given an old massive TV cabinet for free and i have done a bit of work on it to make it into a snake enclosure.
I have finally finished all the carpentry work on it now just the final touches are...
Curious to see how everyone ended up with scalies in their house and at what age. :) For me it is how ancient and different they are, and how successful they have been over millions of years.
I scored a 4ft timber enclosure in immaculate condition for a bargain price... I intend to keep a juvenile frill neck lizard in there... I've looked at putting down lights in but am not keen on having them sticking out the top with bare wires etc...
I'm planning on using an MVB bulb mounted...
This may rub some people the wrong way but I have been thinking about this a lot and I want answers. I prefer soul-crushing honesty over lies and misleading information just for someone to get-rich-quick.
Once a mutation occurs in a subspecies that already exists in another, is their any way to...
howdie ho everybody
i recently bought an female olive python, appears to be 7-9 foot (cant make sure since i cant hold it).
i love olive pythons and always wanted to own one...but this olive is psychotic, and by psychotic i mean... strikes the glass several times while standing near the...
OK this will probably be a bit controversial here, but I want to know what others think. I went to the Australian reptile park on the central coast for the first time in over 10 years. And it was good....but in my opinion they seemed a bit light on.....well.... Australian reptiles. Which you...

The last couple of days the tendent (I think) running up my wrist over my thumb has been really sore.. But I've been trying to think what I had done to it, then I remembered my adult jungle bite me on the wrist close to my thumb alittle over a week ago, and it hurt a hell of a lot more then a...
Hi guys. I've been offered a hatchy bhp but I have an 8 kg fox terrier type inside dog & I have a fear that needs perspective because she is my world, apart from being a very valuable specimen. I have a cat about the same size too but he's welcome to become snake lunch
We all know how bhps...

im going to start building some new enclosures to house my new jungle jag and coastal hatchies when their older , i am thinking of going 1600mmL X 800mmH X600mmD
my question is , with the new...
Now I have not been on this site long, and I don't know if it's just because I am an animal keeper type professionally used to educating children and the public, but I have found it a little disappointing and generally disheartening the way a surprisingly large percentage of people respond to...
I got my 4 new snakes - and they are huge! They are two pairs, one pair of Bredli and one pair of Murray Darlings, between 5 and 8 years old, and really big. I have got two fully equipped enclosures, about 5 feet (150cm) high and 2-3 feet wide and deep, and two water tanks, about 4 feet wide...

THE COP has been finalised and is being implemented now to private keepers. Cage sizes become law now.
This was taken from an internal memo about reptiles in pet shops:
"People who keep pet reptiles under an Animal Keepers Licence or Companion Animal Licence are
now required to comply...
I got bitten by my coastal carpet python for the first time ever today! He is around 1.2m but I have only had him for a few months - he is my first snake and I had always been so scared of getting bitten!
Now I don't know why! It didn't hurt at all, but I'm lucky he let to straight away...
Hi guys,
i picked up my new scrub python yesterday and thought i would upload a pic of him. I only took one picture as i did not want to disturb him much.

A neighbour of mine breeds racing pidgeons and has been euthanasing and freezing new born chicks for me. Just wondering wether anyone has used pidgeon chicks before
I've got a bredli, jungle and darwin which I plan on giving them too, they are all currently on rats.

I live in Virginia on the east coast of the US. At present the state has no laws concerning reptiles except crocodilians. Proposed legislation would ban all hots, all boas, and all pythons except chondros, ball pythons, and Angolan pythons. As you see, all Aussie species would be illegal to own...
Hi guys I'm new here, just got my first snake and I was told it was a scrub python by the seller- dad bought it, and unbeknown to me, it's an almost fully grown spotted python- male I think (if they have the shorter tails), but please correct me if wrong. Woody101 corrected me about the breed-...
Being only young in the hobby and care for 3 snakes, (soon to be 5) this isnt my favourite part. I was just moving ne of my jungle from feeding tub to enclosure, i touched her, she was fine and then she grabbed me, she is only just over a year old (so only small) but she can bite. So far this is...
hey all, i apologise but i have tried searching for the answer and have found some but i'm wondering which species are the smallest to which are the largest?
I'm thinking jungles are most likely the smallest, gtp and diamond and then the bredli and md (around the same size?), then the coastal...
G'day everyone

This may seem a little random, however my husband and I were discussing different breeds of snakes last night, from the most prettiest vens to some of the largest boas. Then it got us into a discussion of one super snake. Which got me thinking. If you could pick only THREE breeds to make ONE...
Here's a link to story about an Australian Scrub Python that hitchhiked to New Guinea:
'My goodness there's a snake on the wing': Qantas' reptile passenger
My newly acquired 7ft Coastal Python sunk its teeth into my index and pointer finger on my right hand.
There was quite a bit of blood but the actual bite surprisingly did not hurt really.
She realesed her bite after about 2 minutes but she didn't want to give me up that easy and began...
so i cant help but notice there are no scrub python threads? unless I've managed to miss them. If so could someone post the link? or lets get one started. It seems a shame not to have a thread for such an awesome snake.
Just to make this clear, I would never do this. I live in the States and own an Aru Scrub and a Coastal Carpet. The Carpet is pretty tame and never bit me. He does head butt me when I first enter his enclosure but that's about it. Now my Scrub is a different story. He/her just bit me a couple of...
