I kept looking, and found a new URS double large enclosure on Gumtree, for a great price. Got there today, and it was still shrink wrapped and sitting on the box.

Hey guys,
Here is a pic taken this week near St Albans NSW. There are a lot of these about at the moment on the property. This is the only pic I have. I think it is a Tiger snake, but not sure.
Your expert help would be greatly appreciated.
I hope the attachment works.
Cheers.
Curious to see how everyone ended up with scalies in their house and at what age. :) For me it is how ancient and different they are, and how successful they have been over millions of years.
Just a few of my recent herping pics from around vic that I haven't posten on APS, ps some might be from last year.

Cornered Bitey TIGER SNAKE - YouTube
I'm still seeing Tigers in Suburban Melbourne but pretty soon they'll be in hiding for about three months. I shot this video yesterday (25 May) when it was around 18 C. The snake is a...
For 25 years after the arrival of the first fleet in 1788, the fledgling colony in Sydney was confined by the seemingly impassable Blue Mountains, part of eastern Australia's Great dividing range. In may 1813, three explorers succeed in finding a pass through the mountains to the fertile plains...
Interesting article that highlights the fact that Venom Detection Kits (VDKs) should only be used to determine what type of antivenom should be used to treat a snake bite , and the antivenom should only be used where symptoms of envenomation are clearly evident.
Python venom traces could...

Hi,
I recently came across a breeding pair of wild Tiger Snakes in my local area of Melbourne and I’ve been keeping a regular eye on them. They’ve been together for almost three weeks now and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how affectionate they are. I’ve still got quite a lot of footage to...

Hello. Today there was a baby dugite in our house hiding in a room. It is dead as our house is a daycare environment and we do have pets and it had to be killed. I'm sorry if you guys do not agree with this decision. But yes with this one in the house we're worried there may be more lurking...
Just found this tiger snake today and reminded me of the variety of tiger snake colours patterns you can encounter even in the same locality. These are just a few tigers I have found in the Melbourne region, Please post any pics of tigers that you have come across anywhere in Australia. I'd love...
So for the Easter long weekend a family of friends and my family stayed down near Royal NP south of Sydney.
I of course spent a plenty of time looking for herps but found few and photographed even fewer, with the only particularly interesting species being a Tiger Snake the others saw that I...

Hi, A friend of mine has spotted a possible Eastern Brown in her kids room. She has had a number of people come in and try to locate it, to no avail. It is definitely in there as fresh droppings have been found. They have moved out of the house, but this has been 5 days now and with 4 little...

So about 15 minutes ago I was driving back in the work vehicle from tea gardens nsw and I was a fair way behind a ute anyway a lovely big rbbs was sunning it self minding its own business when this ********* swerved to hit it then proceeded to jump out and bash it to death with a peice of wood...
Have any of you seen snake cannibalism in the wild? It doesn't seem to be common knowledge, but I have seen footage of two separate incidences of a children's python trying to eat another snake - both were bigger than the childreni. The local newspaper here has also published a few photos of...

Hi,
I am thinking about getting a Red-Bellied black snake.
I have worked with them (and all other venomous snakes) before,
but I have not owned one myself.
I am really hands on with my reptiles, and I don't want a display snake.
My only question regarding keeping one, is about their venom...

We have considerable discussion going about the identity of a snake that has been hanging aound my house for a few days. Last night it came inside, which didn't please me, so he was put in a bag & delivered to a local snake expert. Now I have people telling me all sorts of stories about snakes...
I spent 3 weeks in Melbourne over Christmas 2012 visiting the girlfriends family but managed to make my excuses and sneak out as much as possible. Sorry for the generic descriptions under the pictures but I just copy/pasted them from Flickr. I live in the UK and most of the people seeing these...

Caught this "spectacularly marked" tiger snake yesterday afternoon. However, it did not appreciate me taking pics of it. The other pics are of the effects after 10 mins of being "tagged" by a Tiger snake.
Have only just been given the all clear from hospital and discharged. This was not a...
Hi,
I'm afraid I know nothing at all about frogs except that my local Tiger Snake friends really seem to like them! So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what these two species are. I found them both in a pond in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs today. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Tim
Caution: this thread demonstrates the free-handling of venomous snakes, which should only be attempted by people who are very experienced with venomous snakes.
So I was giving the dog a bath and noticed a large hole in the dirt. We have had quite a lot of Wolf spiders at the moment and the kids are a little worried about em so I put the hose down it to see if it would come out.... as you do!
After a while, these little white things came up and I...
This little fella was found sitting up on top of a bin full of hessian bags last friday in 45 degrees.
Moved like a rocket when discovered.
Relocated to a nearby pond full of all the good things in life. Reeds frogs and water skinks as far as the eye can see.
Just out of curiousity whats the appeal of owning venomous snakes? I've only been in the game a few years so maybe it hasn't click in me yet. But why would I want to house something that could kill me? I can't really interact with and just watch through the glass rather then have them sit on my...
Went for a month long trip to the East Gippsland area of Victoria as i do over summer every year, and also ventured a little into south coast Nsw. Found many interesting reptiles as usual and also some stunning frog species. Enjoy :D
