I was looking though an old herp book of mine by Peter Mirtschin and Rickard Davis 1986 edition and was admiring the Albino Tiger and was wondering, are there many Albino Elapids in private collections.
I have managed to scan a photo of the Albino Tiger in my book but would love to see pics if...
Just thought I'd share a couple of (somewhat dodgy) photos just taken of some baby Eastern Brown Snakes (Pseudonaja textilis) I picked up the other day. They are about 9 inches long and are yet to have their first shed.
Cheers.
G'day guys,
I know there are several people here interested in Brown Snakes (Pseudonaja sp) that may not have access to some of the academic work that has recenly being published on their taxonomy by Adam Skinner from SA uni/museum.
I've just read the paper, and thought I would summarise it...
Firstly, Merry Christmas to everyone!
My son, Nicholas, and I just returned from a quick camping trip out to the Warrumbungle National Park near the little town of Coonabarabran, NSW. This park is a 6-hour drive from Wollongong. We try to visit it at least once a year for its excellent...
Copied directly from my blog, so excuse the weird date references. This story takes place on the 8th and 9th of November, 2008. Let me know if I've misidentified anything.

We left Mudgee and headed towards Warrumbungle National Park. Along the way we saw an eastern long-necked turtle on...
Monday 27th. October, was a warm day in the Victorian Mallee, 37c infact. I was assisting in the checking of drift-fence and pit-trapping lines and, as the day was warm, many small reptile species were trapped and had to be identified, recorded and non target species marked and released. We...
Before it got too warm today I went for a bit of a stroll around some grasslands in Melbourne......makes a nice change from along the river. I had hoped that by targeting some grasslands I might be able to photograph a Brown Snake.....but what did I spot first up...... this nice Tiger Snake...
Last Spring, I visited Dharawal Nature Reserve on several locations. This reserve is only about a 20 minute drive from Wollongong. It is a great place for frogs, lizards and flowers. In this post, I will include photos of reptiles and flowers and in the next post, the incredible frogs that I...
These pics were sent to me by a workmate from the Riverland. Please help with ID.
Please only people who definately know what they're talking about! Thanks in advance :)
This is a great time of the year to see a variety of reptiles. Young of the year are everywhere and all of the reptiles seem to be actively searching for their final meals before the arrival of winter. Yesterday, the weather was perfect so I went for a long walk at Royal. Last Saturday, I...
My wife, younger daughter and I went on a walk today in Royal National Park. This was a beautiful autumn's day with temperatures in the mid-20s, clear skies and a light breeze. The summer humidity was gone so the walking conditions were ideal. We followed the Coast Track from Garie Beach to...
Absurd Feline Laws in the ACT
Well inspired by yet another thread about a native animal being attacked I thought I would post this and start collating information from other areas regarding laws in their states.

Hello all! I am new on here and seeking any help I can get! I live in Maryborough Queensland, and we found this little guy in our pool area? Can anyone have a look and tell us what he is and do we need to be aware? Many thanks! Eve
I was driving in the Redlands area of Brisbane this afternoon and a snake about 12 - 18" long shot across the road in front of me. So I stopped and got out but only caught a fleeting glimpse as it dissapeared into someone's garden (my search of their garden didn't locate it either). The snake...
Just some pics I took at Billabong Koala Park.
From left to right we have Coastal Taipan, Death adder, inland taipan and a red belly
The taipans were very inquisitive. The flash frightened him but he came right over to the glass to check us out.
It is a common discussion amongst snake enthusiasts as to how vens compare re; toxicity, deadliness, etc...
I thought you might find this table interesting, it is based on comparison with the toxicity of the Indian Cobra venom, which is assigned a 1 rating.
The table is not mine, but comes...
A friend of mine went caving and Wombeyan caves on the weekend. I know they are not great pics but can anyone give me an ID on this!
Secondly she asked "Is it true snakes can't bite underwater"?
Please help me answer her questions.
I will give you all credit for it
Brown Snakes are one of my favourite animals, and they're also the ones that I find the hardest to photograph! I can't get mine to sit still long enough for me to figure out how to use my camera, but I think I managed a few that aren't totally blurry lol...

Just wondering if anyone made it to the Armidale course on the weekend?
Unfortunately, I was double booked and know that Pinkie was unable to go due to car troubles, wondering if it was a good weekend?
