Hey guys and girls, how's it going?
I need a bit of advice on heating my enclosure! Now that the winter is coming, the ambient temp of the room that my snake's enclosure is in has dropped, making the cool end of his viv about 20degrees! This is a bit of a worry for me! He's still getting about 32 at the basking end, and is spending a lot of time up there! I just don't think he'd be very happy even though he is staying warm. I've tried playing around with different ventilation set ups and everything, but I don't want to block the vents off completely. I don't know whether or not to get a second, smaller heat lamp and put that somewhere in the middle to try and boost up the temp gradient a little, or to get a heat mat and chuck that in on one side to try and give him another warm spot somewhere? Ideally I'd be trying to get the ambient temperature up, right? Would it be a good idea to get another smaller heat lamp and thermostat and put that down the cool end (or in the middle) and have that regulate at 27-28ish? Or am I pushing **** up hill?
