Hey all,

First off my southwest carpet python had a shed approximately two and a half weeks ago and before that it had been several months. I get home last night and I see that she has had another shed, is it strange that she sheds in such random time slots?

Secondly, the shed she had last night didnt finnish propperly and her tail still had a bit to go so I bathed her for about 20mins in warm water and with a warm towel I wiped the area down. Most of the unshed scales came off but to my concern I can tell that not all of them came off and they are not coming off easily. I am really concerned about hurting her and missing some of the scales. Is it possible to do any damage to her or leave them on for too long? and will she have any problems or pains if I miss a scale or two?

near falling asleep here mate, but if ya run the damp towel down her body (head to tail direction) they should come off. its best to get em off i would think, otherwise they left scales might prevent her sheding correctly in the future. really important to get it all off her tail.
im sure you'll get a heap more advice in the morning. peace.

It's important to get it all off her tail as you don't want old shed cutting off circulation. Get her out and let her adventure around and gently apply enough pressure to the towel so that it is rubbing as she slides through it, though you will probably notice she will drag her tail along herself anyway probably easier to just give her a hand and get it over with quickly.
