I guess I better start getting up to date with the basics of Ackie breeding, I thought I had much more time!

Most people don't breed them within 6 months, it's only under ideal conditions. If you want it to happen, keep them hot and feed them heaps. There's really not much too it, I incubated hundreds of monitor eggs before I had one which didn't hatch. They have a very long incubation time, be prepared to stare at your eggs waiting three months or more depending on the temperature you use, but there's nothing particularly difficult about it.
 
One of the ackies ate two woodies I offered with tongs, and I managed to drop two of them too. Shortly after it spotted one of the escapees, run down the wall and caught it and then got frustrated because the wings were stopping the woody from going down the hatch.
