How do we go about getting animals added to the species listings??

If all it takes is a little pressure, lets get together and get some animals added, there are various monitors i would to be able to keep, and i'm sure there is other species that others would like.

Or do they just make it up as they go along?

Varanus Indicus (mangrove monitor) is one animal i seriously doubt needed to be on the list at this time, with little opportunity to purchase them and very specialist habbitats and diet.

My money is on someone giving a little shove and they were placed on list.

Thoughts?

The biggest problem with getting species added is the fact that people don't do their returns. There are similar species of monitor to say the Baritji that we can already get which should be no problem, but because not everyone does the right thing, it stuffs everything up for the rest of us.

This is what i was told when i raised a similar question.

The obvious solution is to leave Victoria. Mind you, you'll have to put up with much better weather :)

What's wrong with Victorian weather? You have to dress for only four seasons in one day. :p

Vic only has bad wheather so that we don't have to put up with other states moving down here. :)

there are some new species currently being put forward, i think there wilkl be panoptes and amyae but not to sure as it was at the vhs meeting simon said something about it

I was told by a vic herper that when they added spencers moniters down there it took an act of parliament to make it happen.

You have to put a case together i believe, prove that they are already in captivity and prove they can live ok down this part of australia

i just want some mitchelli and some spotted tree montiors.... i'm not after perentie or rough scaled pythons...

Bloody hell.
