If samples had to be sent away for analysis the cost would skyrocket.

sorry to hear instar

Im sure Monty is in snakey heaven where rats are in plague proportions

Very sad news inny...i think many of us know how you feel :(

An autopsy and sending some samples away definitely gives some piece of mind as to what may have caused the death of any animal...

I had a large jungle die on me some time back now and was advised by the vet when i rang to bring the snake in for an autopsy that if i could get to the vets that day or the next to put the animal in the fridge not the freezer as it makes the autopsy a bit easier..I know that doesn't sound too pleasant but not everything is always pleasant in this hobby of ours.....

Hey Instar, Im sorry to hear your loss, I know Monty was your baby, its never easy.
I hope your next one fills the void he has left.
ad.

Always remember its QUALITY of life not quantity, and i think he had a great life inny

He did Bry. Thanks for your kind thoughts everyone, its appreciated. We've told the kids and they took it harder than we thought, he was their mate too, as much as mine. They havent forgotten our old dog was put down last year, their frightened another pet will die now, so were giving lots of reaasurances. They will get over it in time and I think they will warm to another, they love herps. There having a hard time accepting it, as i am, its difficult under normal circumstances, when its expected, but a nasty shock like this kind of throws you for 6. They say they dont want another coastal tho, understandable i guess.
Maybe a hatchy bredle or olive or something, well see what happens, meanwhile still planning for a beardie or two, and ofcourse they love the froggys and turtles and their own pets.
I think its a sad part of nature but the value of pets is important for kids, teaches them all about life and sadly, death too, but most importantly ,teaches them to love and respect life of any kind. we'll keep on keeping on.
Thanks again for your support everyone.

Man that really sucks, it brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.......
I would be devastated if any of nerps died for no reason but more so for my diamond, funnily enough, also Monty. He was my first snake and everyone that meets him loves him....
Fortunately time will heal all wounds but the memories will always be there mate, so hold on to the good ones and don't give up your herps, just get a new hatchy and enjoy...... :D

Damn! That's really sad. :-( Sorry to hear it mate.

Thanks again folks, nice to have people around who can understand the upset over a snake.
missing him tonight, usually got him out about now, doin his 'wind around the coffee table' thing.

oh inny  that is so sad :(

i think we all know how much you luved that snake! my jaw dropped when i read your first post :(. hope you guys are all ok :(

Hey Inny, Mate I can truly sympothcise with you. I know what you mean though about how it feels. I only had my Scrubbie for about 5-6 months but out of the two he was the friendly one as the female is a cranky bitch, but it still hurt to see him there. The worst part is the feeling like you done sdomething wrong even though I know in my head I done everything right. As the vet said to me sometimes these things happen for no apparent reason, doesn't make it better I guess but in some way it does. I almost feel like selling the girl now just because I don't want to have the same thing happen. My thoughts are with you and the family
