Argh!!! My six year old stepson whom I love with all my heart was meant to be picked up from school by his real dads father today which was confirmed yesterday ( we let him pick him up so he can see his grandson) At 330 I got a email from him telling me that no one was at school to pick him up so he walked home and was in the house and no one was there with him. Lets just say I went ballistic. I rang my wife who was doing the shopping she left the trolley in the middle of the isle and bolted home he was there crying his eyes out and said he had never been that scared
all his dad could do was try to shift the blame and say why didn't check to make sure he had been picked up.
At this stage I want to make sure his father can never breed again by applying a liberal dose of my shoe to his genital region.
Anyway the positive is he did everything we have always told him to do if this sort of thing ever happened. So really I'm a proud dad at the moment. Incredibly piss off but proud.

I think it is truly fantastic that the little Man followed through with the safety net steps you had in place. Unfortunately you cannot control other People's reliability.... I would be very hesitant in the future to allow any pickups that aren't supervised by yourself and your Wife. I know what you all would've been feeling and it isnt fair to your Son that he had to go through that experience. He should be very proud of himself :)

Also sad he walked depending on distance, could he have gotten the school office too call you?

I dont know how old the grandfather is,perhaps he is getting forgetful in old age?

I recall one Easter my daughter spent with her father. I had only got 1 egg for my daughter for Easter as she would be getting lots of chocolate from everyone. I got a text message on Easter morning saying 'i hope the Easter bunny came to your place, coz he didnt come here'! I was horrified. My daughter at the time was 6-7yo! This Easter access had been planned for the past year! Needless to say,i raced down the street and got what left over Easter stuff there was so that Easter bunny had come after all.

Some people  I am glad that your stepson knew what to do. Unfortunately,he will remember that, but he will also remember that you were both there for him.

I have no idea who's fault it is because his dad is blaming the grandfather and the grandfather is say he knew nothing about his son arranging the pick up for him.
The grandfather is only 65 or so and I can't see him forgetting him because he looks forward to picking him up.
As for going to the school office he should of done that but I guess he just didn't think of it.

Unfortunately dementia can happen at that age or earlier. Keep a look out for any other signs just in case. Could also be a mess up of dates or such.
