Not a reptile but good to see.Would like to get an ID,I think it's a powerful owl?.Seemed to be eyeing off a young brushtail on its mothers back.

Nice find! Powerful owl maybe?

edit: just noticed you already said you thought it might be a powerful owl. I read really well :)

yep looks like one to me, the largest species of owl in Australia :D

Yeah he was a big bugger.I was kinda hoping someones cat came roaming through the yard at the time.

Nice one rams. First time we realised that a powerful owl was patrolling around my folk's place was when we started finding dismembered flying fox wings at the bottom of the driveway.

You are so lucky to see a Powerful Owl...I'm jealous. If you ever see a possums tail hanging from a tree likely a powerful owl is holding onto the rest for later. The make a real loud deep "hoot hoot"..nice find.

Wow,well the wings wouldnt be very tasty I spose, they would get stuck in your beak.
Are they your resident possums Rams and do you know where they live?
Great pic of the owl, beautiful predators, probably got chicks to feed.

Great pic of a great animal, been lucky to see one, near my place..

Awesome pics, I've only ever seen two but they're an impressive bird, I did see one in Port Mac in 2009 while spotlighting he/she was eating a squirrel glider while another squirrel glider tried to lunge and have a go at the owl, I just wish I'd gotten pics even half as good as yours. Well done

that is most definitely a powerful owl, you can tell because they have small heads and if you look at it's feet you will see orange yellowish feet
