Hi guys just noticed that our dragons have just layed about 10 eggs wouldnt mind trying to hatch them what would we need to be successful at doing this
your help is apprciated

incubator, perlite, a tub, thermometer and hygrometer.

you can even make your own incubator use google or search the forum for some ideas.

my first hatchie just started to hatch today, i have the incubator set at 29 degrees and humidity at 75-80.

i also air out the eggs every week.

good luck

Do you mean hygrometer?

G'day, You don't even need a incubator. Ive hatched many clutches with a sistema food container, vermiculite mixture, no holes in lid just open the lid now and then and keep it in the enclosure with the dragon. Just make sure your set up for when they all hatch.

I've never bred before so I'm just wondering what's the difference to eggs hatching in the wild compared to inside an enclosure?
Substrate not deep enough?
Fear of beardie damaging/eating the eggs?

bunnings sells perlite or vericulum.

and thanks for the spelling fractal man.

About 1inch maybe a bit less I guess, just put some in. it needs to breath so don't pack it down. Make a dimple with ya finger and put the egg in it. Try your hardest NOT to turn the eggs from there original precision.

I have only used vermic so can't tell you the difference.

1:1 weigh ratio... I never had a problem with humidity.

And I can't stress enough about making sure your se up for there arrival.

In the wild they breed during the right season based on temperature. Most beardies will lay eggs around 30cm below the surface in a well chosen place, in an enclosure most people don't have the temps and substrate to suit. It is also a lot easier to keep a consistent temperature in an incubator (higher temps normally see quicker incubation)and a lot better hatching rates as well.
