Just wanting to know roughly at what point i should be real concerned if my femae beardie has not dropped her clutch? She is fat as, i can feel many many eggs and its been 5 weeks since copulation. Her previous breeding history has shown that she has laid much earlier in previous seasons.

Also, for the amyae breeders out there.... are the eggs noticeable when the females are gravid? ie to the same extent other species often portray. Or does the thickness of the amyaes skin make things a little difficult to tell.
I have a hunch that one of my girls may be gravid though its quite difficult to view the eggs through the skin.
My suspicions have only heightened given the huge weight gain shes had in recent weeks.

Cheers

for the beardie, 3 weeks is usually it. she may be egg bound. in which case i would visit a reptile vet.

It was something that crossed my mind. There have no been any other differences in her activity or health though.... would she be showing different signs if she were egg bound?

That is incorrect, lay times reflect on ovulation not mating, also heating and diet can effect times by weeks, but on average first clutches can vary from 4 - 8 weeks from a mating, then clutches follow 19 - 35 days apart. Females that are egg bound stop eating and stop looking for a place to lay, they loose weight and generally have an off look about them, Oxytocin and calcium injections usually work well in such cases.
