cant really get any more pics lol. am about 1200km from the guy! by the way, yes this lil fella has all the nec. gear, basking bulb, plenty of rocks and branches to climb over and around, waterbowl, UVB tube, feeding on veggies, pellets and gut loaded crickets.

i THINK his mouth was pinkish. to be honest i didnt take much notice when feeding him..

its a eastern bearded.centrals have stripes and easterns have blotxhes on the head

ok, thankyou very much!

Also.. does he seem healthy? just from the appearance? is a very good feeder and very active

yeah looks healthy how old is it. i have a 4-5month old bout that size

I was told he was 2-3mnths old. not 100% positive though

he has no fat stores, on his tail or under his chin. and we can see his boney tail.. he needs more food, as much as he will eat in a 10-15 min period three times a day...

he looks the size mine did at 1 month old.. although mine is central, he is now 18" healthy as, and 6 months old..

Ive got a funny feeling the pet store I got him from wasn't the greatest. I know, should have got him from a breeder, but too late now.

Since I've had him I've been feeding him in the morning and the evening, as much as he could eat at each time (combination of pellets, veggies and gutloaded crickets) and sometimes fed him crickets in-between meals. Thanks for the comment though, I will make sure he's fed 3 times a day instead of twice.

finding out the colour of the mouth linning will give you an honest answer not a guess from a pic
yellow vitticept and pink barbatta

I thought yellow was a barbata and pink was a vitticep
i been thinkin mi beardie was a barbata lol

yellow for barbata pink for vittis, but this is not always the case. It is easier to look at the different "spike" patterns on the head, tail and belly.

Ive got 4 central beardies and im pretty sure all mine hav yellow mouth lining, i agree with mickousley
but also thats an eatern for sure

G'day guys,

It came as a shock to me too, but the colour of the mouth lining is not a definitive identification characteristic between the two common species of Pogona.

Cheers

Jonno

hhhmmm, well there you go.
learn somethin everyday. i wouldnt think it would come down to that anyway. it would change with different geographic localities

so you guys still think he/she may be an eastern? It wouldn't really change his type of diet cause the diets between species are pretty similar arn't they? would just be better to know what he/she is

Looks like an eastern to me. Their diet shouldn't differ form what you are already feeding him/her. you using calcium powder and stuff ?

ive been dusting the crickets with calcium powder and the crickets are being fed carrots covered in the gut loading powder.

Thanks for all the comments guys, you've been really helpful. glad to know what type of beardie he is now
