Well my g.f had a serious snake phobia so was pretty adamant about not getting one to live with us. I always had them when I was younger though so persisted.

I took her to taronga zoo and she held a beautiful yearling olive and problem was pretty much solved.

Few weeks later had a hatchling diamond. How can anyone not think a hatchling is cute!?

Snake No.2 coming soon!

ha ha ha if i ever have to chose between my snake and my gurl my snakes always gunna come first ha the gurl i got now dosnt know yet but i dont think she will care its not like shes gunna be living with me anythime soon so its kewl but i think female herpers have it alot easyer then the male herpers im sure there lots of guys out there that have reptile phobias but im sure its like a 1:10 ratio for guys and gurl that ive noticed that there is quite a few more males then females on this site u lucky gurls ha ha ha

around here i'm nown on the snake and rodent lady already i've had people ask questions about pythons. i had to help a lady out sexing mice. and i have a guy that lives in melbourne that is really interested in me and loves reptiles himself. but my pythons don't seem to like him touching them hehe

Hehe yuh Jimmy we girls do have it easier!! Especially Bryony and Pinkie with their sexy blonde hair. I have yet to find a friend here in Brissy who is reptile crazy. Most guys will look in awe but none has volunteered to touch yet.

Do you think they have a strong 6th sense like dogs?? Beware! I always listen to my animals for bad vibes *LOL* or maybe your snake just doesn't like men? I walked into a pet shop once where this Cockatoo kept calling out to me, wolf whistling and telling me to "Come here, beautiful". I walked to him and he extended his neck for me to scratch. I was overwhelmed. I called out to my bf, but as soon as he came, the Cockatoo made this "argh" noise (I can swear he was scowling at my boy!!) and turned around and faced his bum towards us. I was told that a lot of animals dislike a particular sex, but don't know about snakes!!

well......did you know that men (not all) automatically put out a challenging vibe?
its a dominance thing usually, sometimes its just the animal, but most of the time they are uneasy about this male pressence and vibe that is being put towards them.

Don't blame them

werid thing is my pythons are fine around my brother, dad, and my sisters boyfriend but when it comes to this guy they won't let him touch them.

reptiles

i brought my love of reptiles all the way from the homeland with me - much to my wifes disgust.
having grown up here she had a healthy respect (or fear) of snakes, but she definitely did not want me keeping any. i got in quite a lot of trouble when my first spotted python came home one day, quite a lot of trouble!!!
as has been mentioned before it is not a hobby where you can stop at one - well i didn't anyway! and after five years of living with me and my reptiles she has definitely come around. she loves the beardies, she bought some pink tongue skinks and 3 turtles and she even has her own water python called phyllis now!
still not too keen on handling some of the snakes but hey, i am happy with the progress she has made. i kind of lost her enthusiasm when i started getting involved with the rescue and release of the venomous reptiles!
she knows when we buy our own place it is just going to go into overdrive but as long as the dangerous ones are kept well away from her she doesn't mind!
it is true what slateman said, love can definitely conquer anything!
but it is not all onesided, i had to over come my fear of dogs so she could get a labrador a few years ago. see, now thats a fair swap - i get a labrador and she gets 25 reptiles!!!!!!!!!!!

thats a good swap!

i have 2 dogs.....that means 50 more reptiles for me!!!!!!

What or how many reptiles does everyone have now?? I'd love to hear about other people's collection!!
