reptiles
i brought my love of reptiles all the way from the homeland with me - much to my wifes disgust.
having grown up here she had a healthy respect (or fear) of snakes, but she definitely did not want me keeping any. i got in quite a lot of trouble when my first spotted python came home one day, quite a lot of trouble!!!
as has been mentioned before it is not a hobby where you can stop at one - well i didn't anyway! and after five years of living with me and my reptiles she has definitely come around. she loves the beardies, she bought some pink tongue skinks and 3 turtles and she even has her own water python called phyllis now!
still not too keen on handling some of the snakes but hey, i am happy with the progress she has made. i kind of lost her enthusiasm when i started getting involved with the rescue and release of the venomous reptiles!
she knows when we buy our own place it is just going to go into overdrive but as long as the dangerous ones are kept well away from her she doesn't mind!
it is true what slateman said, love can definitely conquer anything!
but it is not all onesided, i had to over come my fear of dogs so she could get a labrador a few years ago. see, now thats a fair swap - i get a labrador and she gets 25 reptiles!!!!!!!!!!!
