Was just wondering how everyone else takes their beardies outside? Currently I take mine outside and they sit on my hand, however I can only do one at a time as they tend to warm up, then they are off, running up my arms, trying to jump etc. Im paranoid about actually letting them go, apart from birds, if one decided to run, I dont think Id stand a chance of catching it. Was thinking of getting a mesh cage of some kind to put them in for half an hour of an afternoon, does anyone else do this? Any ideas appreciated.

Cheers

ive found the same thing so i have an old bird cage (old but clean) with no bottom on it coupla tent peg holds it down firm ...and every ones happy ..i put some in there and some me and my son watch over ..
cheers

Good thread dragoness. I'm sure a lot of beardie owners would be curious as to what others do. Wouldnt leave them out there too long as they have a habit of digging and scratching around as well. That's if u have tan bark or grass as the surface. Any suggestions most welcome.

Would love to get my little one (still not sexed) out there or an hour or so each day.

Hello

Hello,

You can hold them when you take them outside or put them down on the ground if you would like, just watch for birds & predators!! The outside rays do wonders for them!! Don't ever leave them unattended in a glass or plastic bin, they overheat quickly.

i used to use one of the mesh cages, but they like their freedom and go nuts as soon as they feel like theyre losing it.

mine get to run around my balcony pretty freely on the weekends, i covered the hole they could fall thru with fly screen so its safe fro them, and pulled the bigger plants back once i realised chub likes to climb them,...

when i take them to mums, they get to run around the back yard, they run alot so mum follows 1 of them around, while i follow the other one around. its a full time job,...but they get 3-4 hours every second weekend,...they can move really really fast, bug was head bobbing @ chub from the other side of the yard one day and took off like a rocket to jump on her and pin her down, i've never seen anything move so fast in my life, so be careful when giving them their freedom,...
theyre adults, and i think theyre probably too big for most of the birds in the area,...but i still chase anything that shows interest in them away incase it comes over to peck @ them,,..

if u use any kind of cage, dont leave them in the full sun, they can over heat very quickly.

Thanks guys, we dont have any kind of fencing, so if they took off, there is no barrier what so ever to even slow them down, which was why I thought the cage might be the best idea until I can come up with something more permenant. Would like them to be able to dig and stuff which they couldnt do through the cage.

Cheers

I actually have mine in an aviary outside

All the freedom they need

well, theyre lucky beardies! :)

i live in a unit, wish i could do that too,... :(

I've actually built a little cage for my pair of adults. During the day when i'm home i stick them outdoors

Its basically a 1m x 0.5m x 0.5m timber framed cage (on wheels- easy to maneouver round) with 10mm cage wire sides. I've got a 5mm plywood top on half the cage top and one end. The base is astro turf and the only other pieces inside are 1 log, 1 branch and a water bowl.

The beardies love it. I have no porb with them rubbing their noses and they love a good hosing.

I bought a wooden box from the warehouse, has door on it for $25.Instead of putting the back on it I put fly screen.stapled it up so no holes and they love it.I put a branch inside and a shade hide.I am in a townhouse so not much room so I just open the front door and put the box there. They get sun everyday and are happy little dragons.
