Oh no, I was just saying there is a few people out there who get the references straight away via a course then decide to see Mr Textillis...clearly not a good idea :p

Corses are a good way to get a hand's on experance... but truefully you cant lern about some of the most venemous snakes in a meer 2 days thats just ignerant to say. But you can lern the basicics about handeling and venture of doing your own thing... IMO the only way to rely lern is when you get your own 'elapids' and by your self when no one is helping you. but some would rather be tought privately and it is much much better in meny way's.. shame not meny people will help the younger herpers.
Mr Textillis is not so forgiveing lol

Why does everyone give "MR Textilis" such a bad rap? Obviously it is very unforgiving if you make a mistake but the reality in my experience with wild N. Qld Browns is that they are NOT as aggressive, vicious, mean etc as so many people here seem to delight is saying. When handled correctly and calmly they are relatively easy to handle. Yes they do make threatening strikes but for the most part are just bluff and when tailed and supported on a hook will settle down quickly. Most of the misinformation seems to be from people who have very little if any real experience with wild browns.

I would have to agree, except to say they are much more agile than your average Pseudechis, Australaps or even Notechis, so less room for error. Last relocation season, I was able to measure/ weigh a 1.5 metre specimen of both species and the EB was less than half the weight (900gms as opposed to 2100gms).

Regarding elapid courses, I did a Ven husbandry course with ERD recently and found it very worthwhile, not to mention, enjoyable:)!

I think the best bit of info I got from a member on this forum was do them all if you can as you pick up something from everyone. We have two people here that do it sort of regualarly but not near as much as you guys in the east. Groups are always good to get things moveing.

APS members get discount.
I'm keen as. Just gotta stop buying reptiles and amphibians and enclosures and everything else and get some money together and book in. The other one I did was just a one dayer. It was fun. But I still want to do another. snakehandler will be rad.

I did both my relocation and husbandry courses with Jonno (ERD) and can't recommend him highly enough, excellent in every aspect.

Yeah I have to second that, Jonno at education Reptile Display is fantastic and has a great knowledge of vems and shares the information freely. He also has no problem helping you out if you get stuck, out of the courses i have attended he would have to be the best.

I have some pythons that are more of a concern than some Elapids, maybe they should get some very large nasty pythons and heat them up to 31deg and practise with those, its just a matter of learning to read them. (and then being quick to react)
