how long should it take for a Black headed python to shed and how clean should the shed be.

well what exactly are we talkin about here?? you talkin from first sign of blue eyes or from when they get the nose tip off???

and a shed should be nice and clean single skin you may even be able to unravel it if they bunch it up but they can be broken in several parts and can also at sometimes be very messy shed (pieces everywhere) it really depends

is your BHP having troubles shedding??

yeh she started about 2 weeks ago n its a reall messy shed peices everywhere
i went to the store n they gave me another heat mat n told me to up the temp to 38 so i did n shes just hiding in her home now hasn come out in a couple days im getting worried

it needs moisture not more heat! soak it in a bath or spray it with water

A healthy and happy snake will shed in one piece. Once shedding starts, it shoudnt take longer than an hour.
If your python has retained parts of its old skin, you must get it off.

Get a bucket of warm water (around 30 degrees) and soak your python in it for around 5 to 10 minutes.
You will have to stand there and hold it in if nessesary. Then with a soft cloth, gentley wipe the loosened skin off.

After you have all the old skin off, give it a good feed and leave it be for a week.
There are a few reasons why a python is having shedding problems, it could be stress,
type of substreight, heating / humidity ect.

If its a new addition, give it time to settle in. If its next shed isnt clean, you will have to have a good look at your set up.
