lol, its okay im not nervous i have been bitten many many times...
...
i believe forceps have a similar structure to scissors but tweezers are the ones you squeeze

Tweezers are better, especially for scared keepers that startle easy lol.
Forceps can be hard to operate when you are ummm literally crapping the gear.

i think your better off with Ramsayi's suggestion with spotted's ... this design is essentially for frogs only

yeah, ive always used tweezers, just curious to see if anybody thought there was an advantage to forceps

those hatchlings are vicious nowadays i think the breeders are growing them with steroids to bulk them up quick

LOL @ Rams ...... I almost need one of those suits for one these darwins you sold me ;)

Frustration , I prefer to use tweezers over forceps , but i do use which ever is in reach when im feeding .

i've never had a problem with biting. i've hand fed my larger coastal. only been bitten once, and it was a mistake on my part...

what are you feeding that needs protection?

Hemostats for adult crapets(holding large rats),tweezers for smaller stuff.

I dont have anything big enough to cause too much damage at the moment so i use what god gave me, a dead mouse or fish and my opposable thumb and forefinger. althought i do have to admit, i will be VERY nervous doing this once the JCP gets to around his 5th year.

no, i dont need protection from anything... lol... maybe myself
...
ive heard of some people useing tongs for rabbits when their feeding bigger snakes...
...
but does anybody here with bigger snakes actually hold the food and dangle it... or like it was suggested in my previous thread, do you just lob it in... which is what im currently doing with my olive

I always hold the food with a hemostat and dangle it in front off all our pythons.Once they grab I give them a bit of a shake to get them to coil.Keeps them keen!

just curious...
....
what length hemostat do you use ramsayi

Could you modify the cardboard and put another hole in it for another pair of tweezers? That way you could hold the snake with one pair of tweezers and a collection jar with the other and use it for milking elapids.... in complete saftey.

I can't believe the steps you go to to protect yourself from bites. This is the outfit I wear when I feed mine.

im not sure, i think you would need to see a professional designer to get an extra hole...
...
milking is hardly as dangerous as feeding frogs...
...
apart from the obvious over kill of my design... is there really any harm in having a pair of feeding tweezers with a small plastic gaurd around them... ??

lol spilota ... well clearly you will look the part when feeding your snakes...
but not all of us have such a stunning figure and cant pull off such an outfit
