Ok so go my bhp a weekago just got all his temp sorted 30degrees and i got home from work to find out the has made a mess of his click clack looked like someone robbed him was paper everwhere. So i cleand it n just checked again he has done the same thing。so what does this meam?? Is he hungry or throwin a tantrum or is he tryin to dig a hole or what lol he is quite a funny pet compaired to our lartharic childernii. So any info would be great please

BHPs are borrowing snakes and most likely he's trying to dig.

Does he have a hide? I find they like hides with the holes in the tops.....so they can feel like their going down into a hole.

What's a lartharic childernii?

C,mon Jamie with all ur knowledge havent you heard of Lartharic Childreni..lol..Amature Aspidities are burrowing snakes, they love holes-termite nest etc,It wont be the last time it will happen either,5minutes after i clean out mine it looks like a rat has nested in the corner..How do reptiles throw tantrums..lol..

I keep the young ones in large long plastic tubs with a heavy ceramic water dish or small dog bowl they cant push over.Substrate is newspaper and on top of the bottom sheets the have a large double sheet of newspaper that they hide under. The snakes like it,makes them feel secure.

lethargic is wat i ment which means lazy lol. an yes he has 2 hides a hot n cold one

he sounds fabulous...and certainly not boring

I use paper towel and even my jungles make themselves a nest in it they love it

There is also substrates you can get for reptiles...there is a new one I think called kitty crumble people have raved about. I have a friend that breeds death adders and they like to hide and he uses like a paper pellet based substrate and his adders are really settled they snuggle down into it and love it.

Just a thought

I use untreated playground (or soft landing) bark for my bhp. super cheap as well. she loves it.
I just got it from a landscaping/garden centre.

but of course as soon as u make her home look nice she has dug up the whole place. she always has to try and go under everything instead of around or over! haha!

My BHP does the same thing, rips newspaper up, ***** her 20cm diameter ceramic water bowl, moves her hides and rocks around the enclosure - absolutely trashes the place. Im used to it now, getting some kritters crumble soon so should be good to see if shes more happy with that.

^ like the idea of hides with the hole in the top, might try that.

poor bhp, shes thinking 'as soon as i make my home look all nice and comfy some stupid human comes along and trashes it', lol,....

Personally l would like to see that 30 degrees bumped up to 33-34 [hot end]......solar 17 [Baden]

Im with Baden, with my Aspidities i tend to have a hotter warm end,32-36c and around 22-28c in the cool end..Where there from the temperature gets a little on the warm side.It wont matter if you fix the newspaper every day,he will still trash it,regardless...I cant comment on the kritty crumble, but i would gather it would be fine, something to burrow under also...

even my Stimson occasionally has a dig around under his substrate. and during breeding season he pushes his furniture around. i should probs get him a girlfriend.

Yep thats normal!! Just make sure he has a cool place and a warm place and a hide rock (or a cardboard box is good when your baby is growing). I find them too annoying on paper it always ends up in the damm water :(. They go fine on sand (they live in sand in the wild) or the reptile bark is good. However make sure you DONT feed on the substrate to avoid them swallowing it and getting a blockage.
