hey just need some advice on how often to feed a blue tongue lizard?
any help would be much appreciated
cheers

generally everyday when theyre young, and then every two to three days when theyre adults

I put some cooked frozen veggies in enclosure and some chopped updry dog food before I had to go to work

When you cook the veggies all the good stuff goes, better to feed raw veggies. Did he go for the dry dog food? What else have you fed him?

feed to appetite in the 1st year...... & mix it up...... veg (peas & green beans), meal worms, mice pinkies, beef mince & beef dog meat......

just got home dont think he has eatn much a little bit of mince before he was given to me my mate found him out under his clothes line barely moving and todays temp was very cold and lots of wind so he brought him to me and i put him in a click clack at them moment with heat at one end he is staying at the cold end by the looks of it i guess because he has been in hybernation??? he is sitting next to me on a blanket at the moment looking around still very slow with his mouth open

So it's wild then? And he is probably brumating yes

yes its wild dont know what burmating is lol? sorry just giving him a place to hang with some food so the kookaburras dont get him probly taking him to a vet or someone as soon as i get a chance or ill re release him near where he was found.
told my mate to go out where he was found to see if he could find n e others n if he did to put it with them but he didnt find n e others

I had blue tonuges for two years (you have to have something like this or beardies or turtles in ACT for 2 years to get snake license) and pretty much all I fed mine was cat food. You buy the cat food in the small tins and one tin will last you a few days just put a couple spoons in at a time and keep the rest in the fridge. Do not give it fish type cat food and remember the more meat it eats the more his crap will smell good to know because they do really messy craps then walk through it and drag it everywhere.

Brumating is the reptile version of hibernation, I wouldn't take anymore from the wild but if you do, do not put it in with any other Blueys. I've never known a blue tongue to have messy crap, protein foods should comprise no more than about one-third of each meal by volume
