Hi everyone!

Over the past couple of weeks my three juvenile bluetongues have refused vegetables, fruits and any other greens!!! I am extremely worried as they only will eat chicken and red meat! What should I do?

Thanks in Advance,

Terry

I've never kept BTS but maybe try finely chopping up the vegies and mix them through the meat and just slowly start increasing the size of the veg over time

i use a small amount of tinned cat food and finely chopped veg. for the fruit i use pureed baby food and mix it in with the solid chopped fruit

Thanks Miss2! That sounds like an excellent idea! Should the baby food and the cat food be used as a staple diet?

I made a trip to my local Woolies but was shocked to discover the HUGE variety of tinned cat food!!! So, I was wondering what brand of tinned cat food should I use? :)

Mix some MyDog with the veggies.
If they still don't eat, starve them for a bit, and they'll eat.

Veggies are not a favourite with bluetongues at all. Allot of the plant material they eat is actually certain flowers, fungi, berries, grasses and bits of stick etc are ingested while trying to eat insects, molloscs and xmas beetles etc.
Young bluetonges use allot of protein and calcium growing so they really get turned on by moving insects, snails and young mice etc.
As well as the canned cat food they like mushroom and fruit, mixing some green chalf with catfood works well.

Just be 110% sure there isn't any fish in the cat food

peas are the answer to Blue Tongue veggie troubles simply buy frozen peas from the super market & mix them with dogmeat..... Peas are sweet & Blueys will go peas over any other veg..... & mixed in with dog meat they have no choice.....

seriously very few Blueys dis-like peas try it & am sure you will succeed.....
