My Blue-tongue can't seem to catch his crickets.
When I had my old Eastern, my dad used to snap the cricket's necks so he could catch them.
Could I put crickets in a feeding bowl lined with Vaseline, or would the Vaseline kill the Bluey? I'd heard they can't climb over it.

Just put them in the fridge for a little bit before you feed them to him. It slows them down heaps

I tried that, but because of the temps, they get up pretty fast and he still can't catch them.

just hold them with tongs but make him chase them for a bit before you give it to him so its still like his hunting them and getting exercises

try some larger prey items like roaches and use some forceps ....

they can be cumbersome feeders but generally some fruit or wet dog foods placed on a plate will suffice

just keep in mind as well most blueys will eat dead insects so freezing crickets and roaches for them and defrosting on demand usually works well also

Okay, thanks kupper. The guy I bought them from mentioned they loved roaches. I was going to buy some today.

I would say with all the animals chris has , he has done a wise thing converting them all onto things that breed quickly and easily :)
best bet is to get a roach colony going for yourself , makes life easier and you will have a food source readily available at all times

Thanks for telling me that they accept dead food! I bludgeoned a cricket to death with one of his ornaments, put it in front of him, he grabbed it! Turns out the cricket was 'feigning' death, like the first time I tried to bludgeon it.
Chris? Do you mean the guy that was selling the Centralians? I didn't see his name, so I don't know.

first comment would be good work and the second would be why are you using the word bludgeoned to describe a crickets death ?

crazy kids

I don't really know, I just kept hitting it, and, well, the word 'hitting' has quite a few meanings.
By the way, would it be okay to feed him a mealworm?
I've heard some bad things about them.
