Perhaps you should've worded your post a little differently. :) I'm sorry for steering your thread away from it's original purpose though.

yeah its my fault but my wording was making no sense last night anyways but still,
some people get into it too much, pretty sure everyone knows the law before they get a reptile. but no worries idc it steered away, i had my info already lmao

Haha, Tim ya gotta be careful of how you write things on here. Ppl like to bite and bite back. Live feeding, Hybrids, magazines are just some topics that get ppl started.

In NSW there's no law per se discussing the live feeding of animals (that I'm aware of).

However, under the cruelty to animals act, live feeding would definitely fall under section 18 of the act, and the fact that it falls under 18 means it will likely fall under 5.

There's a max $5500 fine and 6 months imprisonment for each section

Sorry but I can't see how anyone would ever see live feeding as cruelty to animals. Rodents are bred for a specific purpose and that is as a food item. Apart from being reptile food, what other purpose do they have? How do you differentiate feeding live rodents to live cricket? Or live worms? They are all animals, are they not?

Not only would it never go before a court, being a criminal matter if you rang the cops up and told them you wanted someone charged for live feeding rodents to a pet python they would laugh at you. I was king hit and got 8 stitches in my lip earlier this year and the cops have still done nothing. Do you really think they would care about live feeding?

I don't think it's a good idea for a lot of reasons, but to say it's illegal is just bs

You requested the legislation which makes it illegal. I provided it to you. Section 18, and potentially section 5, unless you can prove a defence under section 24. Whether or not the cops would charge you is completely irrelevant.

If you just wanted to have a whinge on the forums, you could have just said so and saved me the 5 minutes it took to look up the specific sections.

Tim, just to show you, you have nothing to worry about, thought I'd share some photos of my snakes. There eyes look just like Wally's - perfect, beautiful and healthy..
Charlie & Sierra, here, has the same pattern going through her eyes, and the pupils are thin slits because of the sun.

At night time you will see that their pupils are larger so they can see better

Yep, you did which is appreciated. But in my opinion, you'd have to be clutching at straws to argue that it's illegal under those sections. You are feeding a reptile it's natural food source.

I'm not whinging, just trying to stop some of the spread of bs which if rife on these forums
