I have a bredli that has been going very well but now he won't poo or shed I have had him for about 3 months and hasn't shed once an was pooing fine but has had two feeds now without a poo so it's been two and a half weeks without a poo, should I be worried or he will be fine. Sorry new to having a snake that's all and worried...

He should be fine, My childrens hasn't eaten for close to two weeks now without pooping. I think she is holding on to it until she sheds in a couple of days. She usually eats every 5 days,

Well he hasn't shed at all since I got him about 3 months ago but he still seems fine never bitey or anything, he is very happy to eat I feed him every 6 days but he has had two feeds now without pooing but was pooing once a week before he changed?

I believe he will be shedding, so keep his enclosure reasonably humid and give it a few swims/baths. Looks are deceiving.Anyway good luck

Thanks mate, yea been keeping it humid and bathing him I will just keep doing what I do and see what happens thanks opal

take him out onto the grass. its great to get them to poo !!

but has he shed for you in the three months youve had him?

I will take him out on the grass tomorrow thanks mel... No snakelove he has not shed since I have had him at all....

how old is the snake? i didnt think it was normal if it was a young snake and has not shed for 3 months?

Yea he is only a youngster a yearly well I little bit older but I thought that as well but some say give him time others say it's not good so I'm just worried, but thanks heaps mate

yeah if it hasnt shed for three months then i reckon bring him to the vet. better sooner then later. maybe upgrade the food size. coz i have a yearling spotted thats eating hopper rats and im pretty sure thats bigger then weaner mice.but good luck mate! keep us posted =)

Thanks heaps mate I will take him to the vet asap, thank you very much for all your help

i disagree entierly three months is about the average shed time for most snakes. age is irrelevent they only shed more when young because people (myself included) tend to feed them big meals, seriously a pinkie rat weighing almost hald what the hatcho weighs is a big meal when you think about it.

mate if he is eating and acting normally id be willing to bet my entire collection that he is fine and a vet trip is unneccesary.

it to me sounds like he is needing bigger meals, a snake will hold onto or completely use (leave little to no waste) a meal that is to small, and will take much longer to shed.

so i have 2 questions

1. how big is he: rough size of head and middle of the body and length.

2. what are you feeding him.

He mate he is about 70cm long and would be as think as a thumb so say 2-3 cm round in thickest part. His head Is only reasonably small, 10cent piece maybe a bit smaller. I'm curently feeding him 1 weener mouse ever week thanks heaps for the info mate hope my reply helps you

hey i have a yearling python about the same size and i feed hopper rats and im starting to think about upgrading him to bigger again

***** maybe I need to feed it a larger meal, guess I have just been worried with him not shedding and now not pooing guess I didn't wanna change because I was worried, but I did get told to keep feeding him fuZzy mice as well and as it's my first snake just a bit unsure and concerned

Now do I feed him again tomorrow like I would normally do or should I wait till he poos if I feed him tomorrow it's 3 feeds with out a poo??? Sorry guys
