Hey guys, I just got my first snake a Bredli off ad today. He said she ate last week so she could eat whenever. So when I came home I decided to give feeding a try. She took it out of my hand before I even put it on the floor (Must of been hungry!) and she took it down in a matter of minutes.. She is now in the hide on cool side (27-29c) Can she digest in this or should I somehow move her into the hot side hide (32-35c) or let her be in the cool side? Will post some pictures later in Aussie snakes..

Dave.

yea she should be fine

ad breeds very good bredli's mate you will be happy with it!

you only have 5 degrees difference between warm and cool?

thats not much of a thermal gradient,..

that being said, 29ish should be ok fro digestion with 32 apparently being perfect

is she in a click clack?

i have a warm side cave and a cool side cave for my new bredli, when i feed them i stick them head first in the warm side cave and they stay tehre.

lucky u with teh feeding,..i chased one of mine halfway across the loungeroom doinking it on the head with a mouse befoer she took it last night,... :)

they are smart animals and will know to go to the hotter end if needed
Ok. I was just thinking she might be scared since she has changed homes, She might be to big to get out LOL. She is fat after that pinkie rat.

Well no.. In the cold spot there is 26c, but the cold side hot gets a little hotter.. But cool side in dif spots rangers from 26-28.. She is in a 10L. I'm upgrading her to a 20L soon with more branches etc.

She should have a hide on both the cool and warm ends that way she can hide even when she wants to get heat.

She does mate. the hot side hide is 34ish C and cool end is around 25-27c during the day.. She is out and going to hot end now..

get the hot end to 32 try leaving her alone you did a good thing by feeding her straight away half the problems solved by doing that. She wil find the heat by her self congrads on the purchase

A good thing ?- what if the snake rejected the food source and was in a stressful state and didnt eat from then on.

I personally would of left the snake for a week then i would of offered food. IMO ;).

I just came home from newsangent.. She is in the ot side hide.. I'll drop it to 32.. Even though its se to 32 on thermostat the heat in the room sometimes will up it a few C. She seems ok now. I went to peak and she is coming up and is wrapping herself around the branch in the hot end.. She looks so big with the pinkie in her. I know I should of left a week to feed. But since I can't handle while she has ate I thought it would stop me from wanting to pick her up.. She seems happy she likes to move around the branch it seems.

well all of the snakes i have puchased have eatin on the day i bought them home . well if the snake wasnt stressed it will eat if it is stressed it wont. So it is a good thing that she ate she isnt stressed.

She is gliding around her new home.. Around the branch.. Ontop of the hides etc. If she was stressed she would be hiding? She has moved back to the cool side now.. I guess she might of getting a lil hot.

Hi Dave,
Good to see she has settled in well and eaten,
It might pay to leave her be for a day or two now that she has eaten but she is quite hardy, and tolerant.
Have you been bitten yet? lol
Cheers
Adam.

 She got a little angry in the car, theres a bad road near gatton and we went over a bump and she snapped at the tub. But she is fine now, your right, she is a good eater I thought she would be stressed and wouldn't eat. But she seems ok. I just came back from another members house to check out his 2 bredli and came home and she is curled up in the cool end. I'm enjoying her even though I can only peak around and watch though adam LOL. You do a great job, I'd love to see some more of your reptiles another time.
