Broadband deals

Ok, what's a good package for a 3hr a day habit. General surfers are 1x
teacher wife, 2 x primary school kids and 1 BUFF. We've got an unlimited hrs/download dial up connection at the moment for $24 a month, so the only benefits are speed and open phone line really. Worth the change or what?

Careful of the low cost packages (all ISPS) the overuse charges can be really expensive. You'll find you will use the internet more on broadband because it it so much easier.

Bigpuddle cable for approx $65/month. Really fast downloads, reasonable uploads. 10 GB limit with slowdowns after 10GB and NO penalty for exceeding 10 GB. Not too shabby!

Regardless of what package you get, once you have cable you'll never go back it's that much better.
As for me, I'm with ozemail, about 60 a month. It's ok but we're on underground power so optus and the like can't give it to us yet.

I'm with kooee at the moment and looking at their BB deals it seems like $49.95 p/month is the best option. A 256-300 plan, with 300mb download (exceed limit goes back to dial up speed, no extra $) would probably suit.
This is with a BYO modem and self setup etc on 24 month agreement.

should also find out if you can get cable at your house. not everyone can so if you can't get it, that helps you make your mind as you'll have to go with adsl.

ADSL's OK though, it's wot I ave got and it is still heaps better than a 56K dial up!

I switched from Bigpond cable to Optus Cable and am much happier - fewer dropouts and generally far better service. Also get 100 free local calls and discount on my Broadband for having my phone with Optus as well.
