My spotted pythons heat lamp in his cage is broken & he has been without significant heat for a week (5 days). I have tried replacing the heat lamp, but it smells of burnt plastic, I think the actualy element itself is broken. :(

I am worried about my snake getting lathargic & sick - possibly even dying - if this problem is not fixed ASAP.

I was wondering what alternatives I could use in the meantime to help keep him warm & active whilst I organize a replacement?

I have considered heating the temperating in the room around his cage by using heaters, an open oven (to raise the temperate in the room of course!), or putting his cage in front of heater to help keep him warm?

I am also tihnking of taking him to work & leaving him in my car for a bit (with ventilation/air flow & water of course!) in the sun, but I am worried that someone might try & steal him that way as well.

Any suggestions? All help appreicated!

Maybe you could heat up one of those wheat packs and put that in there for him to warm up on or get a heat rock, although I'm not overly keen on those.

i wouldnt be for leaving it in the car, there are so many places that it could squeeze through and get out or into the engine.
put a hot waterbottle in his enclosure? heat mat. put him in a container inside another enclosure. just gettting him out for a while, he can heat up through your body warmth.

putting a lamp in the enclosure.

I would suggest you fix the light , instead of wasting time on ideas like leaving oven doors open / leaving it to cook in the car all day .....
You could use a heat mat or cord under the cage to provide heat in the mean time .
