G'day Herpers
I have two healthy, approx 2yr old EWD's, housed, year round in an indoor tank. We've got renovations due in Sept/Oct and will be moving out for 4 weeks. Unfortunately the Dragons will not be coming with us for reasons I wont go into.
I'm thinking of brumation and need a sanity check on my plan as i wont be able to check on them.
I'm feeding them more than usual at the moment on fruit/veg/woodies and vits to keep their glycogen reserves up. I intend to gradually cut down the feeding until the week before we leave while reducing the heating/UV period. In the last week I'll stop feeding so they dont have undigested food causing issues.
Then I'll move them into another ventilated enclosure (glass tank) in our outside guest room with deep reptibark and hiding places. No UV/heating but well protected from draughts. We're in Melbourne but dont expect temps to drop below 3-4c and no chance of frost in the guest room. The room temp should fluctuate with the outside temp (so hopefully no freak heatwaves!)
I've never brumated herps so i'm a tad paranoid . So I'm keen on feedback/advice - particularly about not having water in the enclosure over the 4 weeks.
