Normally he moves about his enclosure regularly but he has found this spot and has remained there for 3 days now curled as tight as he can. This is not usual behaviour as he is usually spread out on basking rocks or in a spiral under a rock.
He has been in this new enclosure for about a month now. I am feeding him in a day or two (10 day cycle). Temps seem normal according to the thermos. That area reads 26 degrees on average.
He is about 8 months old and 1m long.
He hasn't shed for over a month now.

Is he uncomfortable?

(Sorry if this is nothing but Google gives me too much about ball pythons when I try and search curled tight etc.)

HAs he got an area in his enclosure that reaches roughly 32 degrees C??

It sounds like he is cold and trying to conserve heat, I could be wrong though.
My girl spends a few hours a day soaking up the heat, her hot spot is around 33 degrees C, she then goes up on her shelf where the temperature is 30 degrees C. At night when the lights go off, she goes to her hide and coils up tightly and spends the night like that. They can retain heat extremely well in this position.

yeh seems a little cold as mentioned above.

also about the shedding part most pythons shed on average every 8 weeks so dont stress about that.

His highest basking rock gets up to 34 during a hot day under the ceramic globe, usually hovers at 32.

On a side note, the globe is on 24/7. It emits no light as he get sunlight during the day. Is that ok?

Maybe coming up for a shed and just chilling.

If he is still there in a week then start to worry about it. I have a bad habit of annoying my snakes out of worry when most of the time they just want to be left alone :S

i have 2 snakes not eating ATM for no reason, can't figure it out D: think one is having a tough shed and the other is just... Special. He worries me.

Unless you are watching him 24 hours a day how do you know he has not moved and returned to the same position?. As already mentioned he is probably due a shed, I would not worry

Kindest regards

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, just wanted to update in case someone else experiences the same issue.

My python ended up shedding a few days after my last post up there on the 3 December 2012. He has been fine ever since!

Yeah I was thinking micro managing, when I read your first post lol. But all's good that ends good.

No need for apologies its nice when threads are concluded rather than 'left hanging in the air' leaving other members wondering. I am glad all is well with your snake.

^ I concur. It's helpful when folks post the answers to issues they have experienced

mine does same thing however hides when preparing 2 shed, glad 2 hear that nothing was wrong.:)

Like endeavour and SniperCap have said, a typed conclusion to a problem is almost as good as the conlusion itself, i think if people are going to take the time to give advice to someones problems then they also deserve to know the outcome, well done Capitol well done...............................Ron
