Helpppppp

I am close to deciding what sort of snake I should get. I am thinking it will be either a coastal or diamond python.
I know that the enclosure ideally should be half the snakes fully grown length.

Anyway hubby and I saw some enclosures today.

We can choose between 1.5 meters long by 2 foot deep by 5 foot high giving room to the snake to climb on branches...

Or we can go for an enclosure that is the same 1.5 meters long by 2 foot deep by only 2 foot high. Not giving room to climb. These enclosures were on cabinets which gave lots of nice room for all the snake stuff you gather for looking after them.

I know coastal and diamond pythons are described a terrestrial but some books and articles online I have read described them as liking to climb.....

What are everyones thoughts on this.

I would definitely go with the taller enclosure if you have the room. They really do climb a lot ;)

Tall if you have the room, but really no need for it, I keep all my snakes in 300mm high enclosure..

Thank you so much for your responses

I did think tall but the girl at the shop said the lower ones were what most people have etc etc. and I thought maybe I am wrong to think a tall one would be good.

We have the space for one and then a second one if we decide to have a go at breeding later on down the track.....so its all good.

So now I know what I want I can start to have a look at what other tall enclosures are out there and see where i go from there....then I will be asking you all about heating and thermostats and all that stuff

I am having a ball researching everything and taking my time.....
