Hey, I'm new to this whole python keeping business :) And I was just wondering why hatchling pythons need to be kept in a click clack, because I already have an exo terra enclosure that i was going to use but, my research has led me to believe I need to use a click clack. So all in all, my questions are these:
Why, do I need to use a click clack?
Can't I just use my enclosure? The measurements for it are - 1.6L x 1.6W x 2 feet high.
And the python I'm thinking about purchasing is a children's python :)
Thank you :)

Sorry the pictures are at an angle. My phone camera is horrible quality...

Python prefer small confined spaces. They feel alot more secure. If its in a massive enclosure it can stress it. But its up to you. By the way that exoterra tank doesnt look what sizes you just said.

Should be ok .....Ants dont really climb so keep any branches on the low side or they go thump in the night (they think they good climbers lol)...that enclosure isnt over big so i dont c y not...if its a hatchie of only a few weeks old tho i would go the click clack route...JMO

i think he means 1.6 FT which is about 55cmx55cmx60cm?...correct me if im wrong ..or 550mmx550mmx600mm...lol just depends what school and age u r lol

Haha now i understand. I thought he meant metres. Well that should be fine for a developed hatchling. just make sure you provide some good hides.

And no gaps 8)

Yes espaically had to go buy a new click clack today cause my woma i got yesterday found a way out!! Had to put 3kg of spare substrate on top of the lid where she could get out and some bull clips.

Yeah, sorry I meant feet haha
Thank you for your advice, I will make sure there are a load of hides in it and I realize that it isn't the ideal height but I got it for next to nothing so, it will do for now :)
And I'm fairly certain it's escape proof haha

With that glass enclosure I would also put something to cover the sides and the back,it would feel to open for a young snake and might cause some stress. What will you be using for heat?

I'm not completely sure yet... I was thinking either a hat mat or heat lamp. Or both.
And I was looking into buying a background for it as well. Thoughts?

If you dont want to spend a heap of money on the 3d ones you can just buy a picture one like the fish tank ones

I'm actually not that worried about money, I've been saving for a fair while :) I was just wondering what your thoughts on backgrounds are concerning making the python feel safer.
And how would you go about having a cool and hot end with such a small space?
Thanks :)

Many pet shops sell the exo terra backgrounds, and that will stop your python from seeing outside the enclosure. With such a small space i would go with a small heat mat so it doesnt heat up the whole enclosure
